Cap Jack wanted it for use as a bargaining chip to keep himself out of 100 years' worth of servitude aboard the Flying Dutchman
Davy Jones helped Cap Jack get the Black Pearl out of the sea - that's why Jack has to serve on the Flying Dylan. Right?
I enjoyed the movie - but was somewhat disappointed.
IMO they re-used to many jokes from the first movie. A couple of times I thought "They used the exact same joke in the first movie!"
I did love when they... uhm, I don't know how to describe it
But like when Elizabeth is about to board the Pearl, and Jack says "Hide the rum".
. A reference to the first movie.
I thought Elizabeth was annoying (or the way she was directed).
In this movie Elizabeth had learned how to handle a sword (two swords even), she seemed a little bit more confident, she was a little bit more manipulative, and I got the impression that she also had learned how to handle a gun.
She had evolved into a "Strong female character" (or a Stronger female character).
And I think she was portrayed as a strong female character really well: she thought against Davy Jones crew on the same conditions as the male characters: without having to drop cheesy one-liners ("Suck my dick", G.I Jane
), and there was no crap like "Oh noes, I broke a nail!".
She fought, swashbuckled and jumped around without the director having to shove it in our face that "LOOK we have a STRONG FEMALE character. AREN'T WE GREAT?" like in some other movies.
But, sometimes she was morphed into this helpless little girl.
I especially disliked the way she screamed. Who the hell screams like that when they are older than six?
And I understand that she wanted to stop the fight between Jack, Will and Norrington - but I didn't like they way she tried to do it.
And yes, in the first movie she was a rich, over-protected girl. So in a way I can understand this "Girlish" behaviour. But I thought it was
too girlish at times.
I would've rather seen more of the "strong, awesome Elizabeth".
Can't believe I'm still here.
