If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Maybe it's a little premature, but...
"Happy 30th Birthday Rebis!"
And if the trailer is anything to go by, I will be.

Yeah, I catched the boot-leg version at breakfast and had a look at the real stuff for dinner.
It looks to be smashing, but I myself only found out today they wont be releaseing it until next year. Bloody odd. It'd be the perfect weapon to bring
DC down a notch or two after their influx of SR-money.

Cool, I haven't followed the development on Spidey 3 for a while, so the villains are?
Green Goblin (Harry?)
Venom
Sandman

I'm more excited about Spidey 3 than the TF movie.
There, I've said it!
Is this trailer doing the rounds anywhere else? I ain't got QuickTime at work.

Oh, I have to agree. My web-fu is rubbish so I may not be of much use. I hope a youtube link will help:

Some screencaps:
http://www.wizarduniverse.com/movies/sp ... 718709.cfm
There's some more but I for one am not sharing until everyone who wants to here has seen the trailer, as they other stills are total money-shots IMHO and you should really see them 'properly' first.
I've watched this like a dozen times this morning. It's
sooooooo good.

My God that looks great.
One thing... anyone worried about villain overload in this one?

Shouldn't be a problem if they're well-balanced.
Sandman would probably be a villain that gets defeated early on, while Venom would develop during the film being the big bad for the finale with Green Goblin running intereference for most of the middle.

my web-fu is so weak i can't watch this anywhere - my PC can't even deal with youtube and i only have dial up at home.
stills look promising though:
agree about the concern about villain overload.
And... also agree this is way more exciting than TFs. gah!

Sandman will play a Scarecrow in Batman Begins type role.
And as far as I know, there's no confirmation that we see Venom in this movie. We know there's a symbiote, and we know there's a Toepher Grace, but not when or how the two shall meet.

i was wondering that, could sow the seeds for number 4.
ir they are planning on doing a number 4. Might be hard without the lead actors and i heard rumours they are not keen. But then that could be horse ***

I've heard the most rumblings about Raimi and Dunst leaving.
I wouldn't put it past the studio to try and make another one w/o Raimi, and I wouldn't put it past them to send Dunst away to Cali for modeling, or play up Gwen for the next movie

Well it depends. I find the villian choice is brilliant when you think about it.
venom and Sandman are a good combo because Venom is a reeally evil bad guy who thinks he is doing good.
Sandman is the sympathetic bad guy who would love to be god but can't help himself because he is such a product of his back ground and easily gets drawn into crime.
Spider-man is the hero who is turning bad as the alien feeds off his raw emotion but even though he knows he's turning bad he can't draw himself away from the great feeling his costume provides him.
And Harry's situation mirrors Peters in that his is struggling with good/evil except hsi situation is a mirror of Peter's except that the education in life his father provided him is very different to Peter's.

In retrospec I should ahve just said that they are complimentary choices because they are all characters who have had similar struggles (while wildly different situations) with doing good and evil.

Sweet Christ, wasn't the first one awful enough to last for at least a decade in the collective psyche of the cinema-going public? What failed psychology student decided to take vengeance upon mankind with a second helping??
Ooh ooh I'm getting some plot through my telepathic powers... I'm seeing some big bad which they have to deal with... Mr. Fantastic will spend all his time coming up with plans and inventions which "Need more testing, damnit!" (Because that's like his character! yano? He's like too hesitant and stuff!) The Human Torch will run around like a dick and every now and again the others will tut tut and say "Oh, Johnnie!" (Because he's like the opposite? Always doing and never thinking, you see). Thing will stomp around making the occassional one-liner and chomping on a cigar (characterisation!). And the Invisible Girl will meander from one half-formed joke to the next, usually based entirely on her reappearing half-naked every now and again to please the "Yeah but it was a cool movie because it had Such-and-such-sexy-girl in it!"
...Man, I really hate that movie from the looks of it o.O
Woohoo for Pirates of the Caribbean. At least I can just chortle my way through Johnny Depp's Keith Richards impersonation for two hours and laugh at Orlando Bloom desperately pretending he's a serious actor and not where he is entirely because he's a pretty-boy pinup.
Jesus I'm bitter today. Ho hum, I could become a reviewer... think of the evil!!

I'll give it its dues- the first 20 minutes were fine. The middle is something of a blur to me however as the last 20 minutes were so bad I recall trying to eat my own nervous system to make the pain stop...

I liked the way nobody bothered to explain what was happening, why he was turning into a robot (but then it's not like any of their other mutations made sense) or why he bothered stealing that mask thing when he was going to end up with a permanent one anyhoo. Also the way they couldn't come up with their own character motivation so they just assumed everyone would have forgotten Norman Osborne by this point (dude, it was like 2 years ago now!) so they just 'borrowed' his.
Though I admit I love his machine which removes their powers. It's a nucular (sic) thingamywotsit which uses... erm... cosmic powers! and love. And it removes your powers. Somehow. Except for the Thing, who just turned back into himself through the power of music and interpretive dance. Or somesuch.
Man they should have let me write it, it wouldn't have been much more random but by God it would have been funnier... and have a lot more Harold Ramis in it...

Oh, there's nothing worse...
Trailer looks wikkid nifty. Confirms my thought that, with the right FX, Sandman could be teh awesome.
FF was a funky little brainless popcorn jaunt. It's hardly Batman Biggins, but did anybody expect it to be?
The DVD is Sunday morning hangover and a bacon sandwich fare.
Grrr. Argh.
