As the title says, they're the 'A Level Triplets'.Predabot wrote:
Who be these birds then? Can't say I recognise them.
They're a 70's retro/ska/punk/hip-hop influenced musical group who hail from Waltonwirrleston in Kingston, Jamaica (father worked over there as an advisor to a prominant ambassador-I'm sure if I were to say 'Jonesbury and the Hatchett' you'd guess who fairly quickly).
What's interesting about the triplets is that the eldest (D'eloquise-on the left) was born 23 days premature to her sisters, making her obviously older, but making them technically still triplets!
D'eloquise plays the drums, but won't use a high-hat because her old nanny told her that it looked like 'Beelzebubs mockery of a Sunday-dress-hat' when she was little, and this instilled a sense of fear and superstition in the young would-be drummer.
Of the twins of the triplets, Shannandriona (born first) plays the guitar - or to be specific, an original copy of a Les Paul 15 string Mandolinio that her father had given to him by someone who claimed it came from a garage sale that Bob Marley had, when he was an up-and-coming skiffle player. It's bright green, and she calls it 'Gitty'.
Finally we have Gwendelilian, the youngest of the trio, who takes lead vocals and bass-a 1999 Prince Stratoballer in bright purple.
Their first album was a commercial and critical success in their home country-entitled 'Dis be real, [composite word including 'f*ck'] y'all', it was the highest selling album in the Czech Republics album chart-all the more impressive when you consider that was the year that MC Hammer released his infamous 'Never gonna be broke' album.
Their current (and fifth) album is slowly gaining them recognition over here-entitled 'Sound of the sounds' (translated into their native language it roughly means 'Here me now'), it's their first album to feature the use of a woodwind section playing exclusively on trombones.
The future is looking pretty rosy for this cheeky trio-I've been following them for years now, so any questions, just ask.

Like most Jamaican groups of the late 1950s, they began with Mento, but unlike the more prominent artists, they didn't progress into Ska because they were completely against the reputations of the UK followers being called rudeboys.
Instead, they opted for the more subtle tones of R&B and had a US chart success last year when they duetted with Eminem on his ground-breaking "S'up! I got the Daz, yo!" benefit tour in the post-Martian American mid-west.
