Death's Head trade, stuff

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Death's Head trade, stuff

Post by KingMob » Tue Jun 06, 2006 3:56 pm

lo,

was at that other AA this weekend, was a laugh, and the estimable Mr Furman told everyone that there are plans for a trade collecting as much of the non-TF Death's Head stuff as poss. A chap I know says he asked a Q about it later and got told the Body In Question isn't going to be reprinted, but the TPB is going to include stuff like that (pretty excellent IMHO) Dragon's Claws story DH was in.

Pretty excited about this and wanted to share, apols if everyone already knows.

Oh, and the last page of DH3.0 that a lot of people liked and wished had a ",yes?" at the end?
Originally, it did. Got edited out.

What DH stuff do you think/hope we could be getting? Anyone have a fave of the non-TF stuff?

the bit i hope we are getting is... the one we aren't. All other stuff welcome though.

The "yes" as much as it would have been fun, i guess makes no real sense, unless the plan is that this guy eventually became DH 1.0.

which i doubt.

actually, still would have been nice much like the face thing.

Any other comments about that series or things to report?

the DH Claws issue - i love the art, but i find it a bit hard to credit DH actually getting beaten by the Claws. He could ace them all in minutes.

Point. Great art aside, I think I also like it because it sets up the return match in DH's own series, an issue which I really, really like and hope to see reprinted. I just like the interaction between those characters, that universe.

Apparently, this was the plan. Sounds like he was trying to kinda sneak that in there and the editor was a bit too fly to let him off with it.
Don't know how that reads, as I didn't finish the story. Wasn't my kind of thing.

There were less neat stories and things from the comic guys this year than last, tbh, although they were all totally great and it was cool to hear from Mike Collins.
The Q+A was a bit off-putting what with the microphone the guests had seeming a bit quiet. And I was in the front row.
Oh, and those that wanted to ask questions had to go up to a mic stand and do it from there. A few enterprising chaps were game, but it wasn't as fun or inclusive-feeling as just shouting or Andy Wildman running about holding the mic and putting peope at their ease.
They ditched it for the David Kaye talk later, people just shouted or he went over to them. He was great.
Oh, and Guido Guidi did sketches all day, worked like a trooper (in between wandering off to buy toys). I got a Grimlock sketch, natch and one of the unused pics from the abortive Energon profile book.

Oh, Grimlock fans need to check out the Shockwave 1-shot for a hint to do with Beast Wars of all things...Furman seems to be working to link the IDW stuff up all over the shop, universe-building. He seems to be having fun. Oh, BW profile series will have all characters in it, including Japanese ones. Should be good.

Meh, there's some other minor stuff, but no real news and this is probably wrong forum now oops. Still a good day tho - I got a Swoop! :) Only taken about 20 years...

Nifty. Revel in his slightly undersized glory.

Hmm... not sure what to think about that. It could be done well, as presumably TFs will eventually get around to infiltrating worlds that have civilisations but no metal vehicles...

Glad to hear you had a good time. :)

Nice to see the DH stuff will get more exposure, some of it is genius. Problem is I own it all except for Body in Question. :(

did they give any particular reason for that? given that its such an obvious shame and the hardest thing to find?

I was going to say its a shame they are not including the TF stuff but then i realsied that has been reprinted already.

do you think they will include the Dr Who strips? Or would that present licensing complications?

Sound great and I might be getting it - shame about Body in Question though. I still didn't read that story yet and I'm darn curious...

About the 'New' DH - even being the Uber-Furman fan I am, I'll be the first to admit it was his poorest work so far. I started wondering how much he wrote of this and how much was forced Marvel continuity - crossover stuff. Propably the only thing worthy in the whole storyarc was the last page with DH and his new make-up.

It was actually me that asked that question! And the last one to the artists about the reference material they used. I found the strength to go up to the microphone in several large pints. :) The microphones really let them down during the charity auction, a chap from the Netherlands siting next to me asked at one point what had just been offered for sale adn I had to tell him I didn't have a clue... Did you get to do the consultation top sectret thing as well?

The DH trade will include the Doctor Who strip, so chance are it'll be coming from Panini (owners of all the Who strips now) rather than Marvel.

It was actually me that asked that question!
About BiQ? I think more than one person must have asked that then, or the chap I know (in RL as well as on the net) heard it from a source through yourself and is fibbing me...
And hey, I remember seeing you from the artist reference question (which was a great Q and got a bunch of interesting replies, nice one)!
The story I got told about BiQ was that they were having difficulties getting ahold of the correct material from which to reproduce it...?

I did, and I can't say I was particularly interested I'm afraid.
About BiQ?
Ah no, I mean I asked the question about DH3 in the Q&A that lead to him mentioning the trade.

And hey, I remember seeing you from the artist reference question (which was a great Q and got a bunch of interesting replies, nice one)!
Why thank you sir! Mike Collin's story about John Ridgeway tracing round the toys to do his art was probably my favorite anecdote of the whole convention. (I assume he meant John traced round them once to create charecter models he then worked from rather than puting the toys in all sorts of poses for every single panel of art. Though the latter image is funnier...)
