I've been Banned for uncivil behaviour.

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Banned for uncivil behaviour?

WOW!

On a comic website I've ben banned. I didn't flame anybody. I didn't call anybody a name. i didn't wear.

My offence?
I argued that Superman's super speed wasn't nessecarly always on.

I pointed out that just about every issue he has ever featured in where he is hit or shot in surprise as proof. I also pointed out that in a fight with Magneto if he is starting the fight using super speed before the kick off, then Magneto should be allowed to have his magnetic field as their both clasified as Super powers. Apparently Super speed doesn't count as a super power.

A really anal difference naturally. The sort that is usually fun to discuss and dissect. I was given no proof that Suerman's Super speed is always in use 24/7. But disagreeing with that apparently makes me a troll becasue a mod once declared so.

I don't think I'll ever go to a comic website forum ever again. No wonder comics are dying a death.

For all intents and purposes that I have seen, Newsarama appears to be both heaven and hell. Read of that what you will. :o

I still haven't gotten my registration looked at and cleared by the Mods so I can get in... :x It's taking forever..

if its any consolation i totally agree w/ you. Magneto raising his shield wouldnt take any more conscious thought or effort than superman deciding to fly extremely fast. Superman is not moving at an extremely fast rate all the time and it takes effort to do it.

Mmm, I recall having an extended disagreement with Nat Gertler... which basically boiled down to what I was suggesting (re: online comics subscriptions/distribution) making some of the sector he's in (and has worked his arse off to get into, to be fair) redundant.

The general discussions forum seemed quite redneck in parts. A bit counter-intuitive, but I suppose people who can hold an interest in decades of continuity are likely to have a status quo outlook on other things...

Might dig out the account/pass at some point.

If you want back in for some bizarre reason and it's not just an addy ban, just proxy.

On another note: I got in to Newsarama. :o Wish them luck, lads. Hopefully they will need it.

To celebrate, I of course made an appropriate signature.

The idea was to combine the Civil War and Annihilation logos in some clever way.

That is just incredibly pathetic. People like that really piss me off-the kind of people who take something fun, over analyse it and then try to turn it into something that it isn't-usually laying into others along the way in order to give their lives some kind of meaning. It's doubly pathetic when you consider the topic of discussion-I mean for the love of wotsits, we're talking about a fictional character! If you're gonna get that upset over someone who doesn't even exist, how do you handle real life? Comic book geeks make me angry-how can you sink that low?

Of course, if Megatron isn't a gun in the new movie, I'll ******* kill someone.

CBR forums are a ghetto, no great loss IMHO. Sorry to people who use it and like it, but I've never heard anything that great about it and every browse through has been boring or dispiriting.
I don't think I'll ever go to a comic website forum ever again. No wonder comics are dying a death.
Sticking to certain creator's own websites/boards and browsing Newsarama whenever I'm linked to it, and also paying attention to some of the bigger blogs, gives me a hassle-free and interesting comic web experience...
uh, didn't last month have the biggest comic sales in like a decade...?

If it did, it's still piss-poor compared to sales reaching 200K for a toy book in the time of Marvel UK.

I liked Transformers too. :)

I'm finding it heartening to see the sales figures slowly rise for the first time since the speculator boom...think the last time there was a 'natural' swell in readership was the mid-80s. Hoping it continues.

Yeah, there was a point i was worried i was one of only five people who had started buying comics in the last 15 years.

in fact, i take credit for this current sales swell, i added Runaways and Young Avengers to my standing order.

I still cannot take Superman's method of disguise seriously... I mean that 'vibrating at super speed' and all that... Lois should have guessed he's Clarck without eyeglasses years ago. It's a lame explanation. :eyebrow:

There's a joke here about how you're a secret pedophile... I'm just too tired to really make it work.

How dare you try to corrupt the English literal translation of the Autobots' greatest warrior! :o

But what a hilarious joke that would've been, eh?

As Wally West once said, "Not everything is done at super-speed," when commenting on why he spent over a day asleep while Vandal Savage was taking down Francine and a restaurant. ;)
