This is obviously opinion, but damned if it ain't right opinion...

The thing that gets me is when conservatives keep referring to the "terrorist threat" as if terrorist attacks are the ABSOLUTE WORST thing that could ever happen to this country. We suffered a massive, tragic terrorist attack-- but can anyone say that it was any worse than an expected and badly planned for natural disaster? Disasters happen, whether manmade or natural. Suddenly there's this strain of Americans who are deathly afraid of being attacked again, in any way at all, and preventing those attacks takes precedence over the economy, over humane treatment of illegal aliens, and over personal effing liberty. I feel like I'm living through a Red Scare or something. This is insane.

What's shocking is that the majority of the country really doesn't seem to care.

The "official language" thing isn't on there. I'm surprised. There's a huge push to make English the official language of the country. Does this seem a bit strange? Were this done 200 years ago, I could see it. All sorts of xenophobic statements were turned into laws before we became more "enlightened." Now, after over 200 years of getting alone FINE without one, we're trying to set up an official language. Good plan. Perhaps next we'll set up an official religion, an official race or ethnicity, or perhaps official hair and eye colors.

It's so sad that I actually laugh rather than contemplate how insanely bad it's getting.

I dunno, english wich is basically the world-language nowadays like the official language seems pretty logical to me.

Besides, most other countries have an official language, like in Sweden, where the official language is Swedish.

Don't see why you guys couldn't have an official language wich it would be obligatory to learn the basics of in school.
