Sorry - I feel ive let you all down, ive been over in the EDGE forum as per gamming norm.
Watched the Sony conference live last night, the big shock was Sony took an old PS2 pad and added 6 axis's off tilt controll.
Emulating 2 thirds of the wii controller.
Personaly I dont think Joe Public will see the difference and it will hurt Ninty no end.
£10 MS does the same.

meh, everything's stolen. Nintendo were the first with a D-pad control and everyone used that. Then again Nintendo have just stolen the gyromouse to make their new controller. Technically the NES controllers are stolen from the Atari and Atari stole it from the first arcade machines, who stole it from the controls for the old biplanes!! o.O
Microsoft stole windows from Apple Mac and Dos from 86-DOS (well, bought in the latter case...) UNIX is mostly from MULTICS, the C language is stolen from 'BCPL', the petrol engine was stolen from Mr. Diesel and the fax machine's nothing but a telephone with a waffle iron attached!
There's a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig lawsuit just waiting to happen there... and when it strikes, nobody will be safe!! Nobody!!!
...My randomness aside, In other news, anybody else think their console is incredibly expensive? I appreciate people who really want it will still buy it, but still. Even though they're selling it at a loss already, if they really want bluray to win (and thus claim the royalties from that for the next decade) they might want to try lowering the price further. $499 for the basic package is a lot. Especially with MS about due for a first round of price cuts and the nintendo wii being sold for $1.99 with a free sandwich and yogi bear t-shirt.

I think it's odd that Sony were influenced to change the dualshock controller to have motion control when i'm sure they publically dismissed the Wiimote as a gimmick. Some of the games looked quite pretty. I wasn't very excited though.
The Nintendo conference was really good fun. It's great to see new versions of the classic franchises, although I was chomping for more new IP's.

Nonetheless, if it costs 500-700 dollars, it's going to take it a couple years to even drop down to 250-300 dollars, at least.
Meanwhile, when it comes out, MS will already HAVE a price drop, and Ninty's coming out of the gate with something that everyone wants to have their hands on and it's $199.

I can feel you on that. Even with my feelings about the PS3, I'm no match for the bliss that will be MGS 4.

The next GTA, GTA 4, has already been confirmed on 360...
seemsing cuts the sony list down to a handful of titles like mgs4, ff13 (which made ME say "that's not FF" and I had no problems with any of the rest.
(at least among confirmed games at this time)
Wii on the other hand, blew me away, 27 playable games on the floor many of which seem like launch title materials.
Including Super Mario Galaxy, what looks like a new pilotwings (which I have taken to calling PilotWii), the Wii edition of Twilight princess, ExciteTruck (A new game following up to excitebike) and they've been talking about, since both Wii and DS are wireless, they can link in a couple different way, including DLing game on the virtual console directly to the DS for mobile playing.
Wii also has SD card slots in the side tat allow the player to increase the sytem on board ram as much as they want....
I think they could easily use it to update DS games using the same slot...
Or a built in DS TV player.

C'mon Impy, you HAVE to give Nintendo some love for the way they've come out and got people excited about thier console this E3.
I think price is going to be a huge issue. When the PS3 comes out, you'll be able to buy a 360 AND a Wii for the same price as a high end PS3.
Super Smash Brothers Brawl with Solid Snake? Who doesn't love that?

But to me, the average kid, the average teenager, the average college student, may not have $600 plus games plus another controller or may not be willing to spend that kind of money, Playstation on the side of the box or not.
Having a gyroscopic controller doesn't come close to what Nintendo's can do, that's even assuming that PS3 developers bother to write for it.
I'm sorry, but I see that price tag, and I see the games so far, which are pretty, but I don't know about $100-$200 more pretty, and I see how 360 will have an 10 mil. installed base, and I think about how EVERY gamer, and a lot of non gamers, will pick up a Wii at someone else's house, or at Best Buy or Target, and will HAVE to have one, and it's only $200 bucks, and I see PS3 with the same old controller (although thank god it's not a batarang anymore), and I have lucid vision of a utopia where the PS3 stinks of CD-i and Jaguar.

I don't know....after thinking about it for a while, it's all fits nicely....TOO nicely.
Everyone I've talked to about E3 says the same thing, "Have you heard how much the new PS3 is going to cost?"
Is it even a plausible theory to suggest Sony is just throwing up a big number so they can hack it down 100-200 when the damned thing comes out?
