Why are we still all here?

Why are most of us still here? Most of came here looking for info for a toyline that we once loved as children. I've been part of this community for almost 6 years. We've seen Transformers come out of obscurity into a nostalgic fad, to a modern revival, and now it is soon slipping back into obscurity. With most of us either easing up or loosing interest in Transformers, what keeps you here at Transfans? I think it is kind of cool seeing a functioning close knit community under a Transformer themed guise. I think I can speak for 75% of us when I say that most of us do not feel the same towards Tranformers as we did in 2000.

I stick around because this place is populated by a bunch of interesting people who, if fancy should strike, can discuss the hobby. Besides, it's the most relaxed board I've come across on the internet. A board where not everyone hates everything is insanely difficult to come across.

Yeah, this is a nice place to relax and not give a [composite word including 'f*ck'], after the daily dealing with Dramarama City at another place, with the added bonus of funny people and the chance of maybe seeing another mesmerising picture of spiderfrommars.
If we're talking still bothering with the TF community, what Denyer said.

I think I'm here out of habit now...

I don't collect toys or much of anything TF anymore, but I'm still interested in a general sense... plus this is like my second online home. I've "known" most of y'all for upwards of what... five years, abouts? The people/conversation thing would probably be my main reason, I figure.

seriously if you look at the histric size of the forums GD has always been the biggest thing here - transfans shoudl eb called generaldiscussionfans.
i know it bugs some people but i think there is a really good core of people here who represent something other than the beholden opinions on most TF sites.
in fact i like that it bugs some poeple.
i certainly don't feel the same way about TFs as i used to, although i still think teh concept rawks and enjoy the comics, if not the toys so much anymore.
Plus: Spidey.

Because I think you guys are my friends to one degree or another, and I like being around my friends, discussing whatever is the topic of the minute (if I've anything vaguely related to contribute), helping people if they want to talk about things and myself being able to talk about things I'd find impossible to express concisely in speech, or feel comfortable talking about anywhere else.
I still check into the other transformer related forums now and then, just to see what's going on. Most of it just doesn't interest me though... not that it doesn't sound fine, but mostly I just get the feeling that I've seen it all before (i.e. another GI Joe crossover, another Furman comic series, another batch of random collectable figures- not to say they're not good, just that I feel I've done that dance before).
Maybe there'll be a buzz of activity when the new movie comes out. I did faithfully promise Don Murphy however that I would not watch it as a point of principle for his repulsive behaviour. He laughed... just wait till that bomb under his toilet seat goes off!!![Twisted Evil ](images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif)
So yes, some vague interest in what's happening in Transformers but mostly just because I love most of the people here and would feel very sad without them. And Don Murphy's impending death from the ass upwards. :3

DUDE! we have done like seven comic reviews since then. SEVEN!Dylan wrote:It's just too cool, even after being away for so long. I checked back in because I wanted to find out how all you guys are doing.
I was kind of surprised that it's still pretty much the same place as it was a year ago, or four years ago. But that's part of this board's coolness.

Yeah, what Prof said. Especially after the venom that gets slung around on some of the Trek BBs, it's nice to swing by here and chill a bit. And while I do enjoy posting about my latest TF acquisition, I pop in mainly to see who's around and what's going on.Professor Smooth wrote:I stick around because this place is populated by a bunch of interesting people who, if fancy should strike, can discuss the hobby. We've got a good bunch here, methinks. A toast to you all!

Besty's butt.
I live in a very homogenous area and culture, where people are generally exactly like me. I don't like that. I like talking and interacting with people who are different. I guess that's why I started spending so much time here in GD. And then I saw Besty's butt in real life, and without it there is no hope, no hope, no hope at all. I had to stay.
