2006 Saturn Award Nominations

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Because they insist on having a set number of nominations in each catagorie

so lead male actor - you want the top 5 from sci-fi films - there are only 5 sci-fi films.

I didnt make the rules.

It's not "male actor in a sci-fi film" - it's "male actor". Hence the inclusion of Robert Downey Junior.

And saying "because there has to be a set number of nominations" doesn't explain how Christensen deserves a nomination more than Fillion.

its the academy of Sci-Fi / Fantasy / horror
So for best actors the actors have to have starred in a film of that genere.

Im assuming these were the only guys in thier respective catagories that were ellegable for voting?

And it still hasn't been explained who this Fillion-character is?

I take it he was in a Sci-fi TV-show? Battlestar Galactica or something?

Ah yes, I see now. I googled his arse, and it shows that he was in the Serenity-movie?

Apparently he was the Captain of the ship. And judging from his appearance it would seem as if he was Preacher Caleb in the last season of Buffy.

It doesn't explain how the plank of wood holding up the set didn't get a nomination ahead of Hayden...

cos they aren't the ones claiming it 'makes sense' because he was in a sci-fi film when there weer clearly better leads in other sci-fi cilsm released in the same period?

I still haven't seen Serenity :o

I do maintain that Christensen and Portman CAN act. Just not in Star Wars...

Any poll that has Natalie Portman as Best Actress and Christen Hadenssen as Best Actor is not worth taking seriously.

After seeing Portman's "V" for Vendetta performance, I am convinced she had a personal agenda against Lucus, because you can't possibly go from that bad to that good by accident.
"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

Agenda? I'll say. She probably read some of the dialogue he'd written ;)

Ugh, was that some cheesy dialogue.

"I'm haunted.....by the kiss I should never have given you..."

Yep, that's Lord Vader alright.

Portman's always been a good actress. Most of the cast in the prequels were - this goes back to the point I made about real puppets vs CGI - it's an interaction thing. Actors learn how to react to things around them.

They know how to look at something and play off it. They don't learn how to "right... you step off the ship, and you're on a planet! React! No, no - react more! It's awesome, you're amazed! No, not that amazed! An alien greets you, greet him back. No! He's taller!"

As far as V for Vendetta goes, Portman should really have been shot for that accent alone.
Grrr. Argh.
