2006 Saturn Award Nominations

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

You think everybody should get shot.

You're like the "everybody should get shot" guy.

Like Batman, but with everybody getting shot instead of bats.
Grrr. Argh.

I do maintain that Christensen and Portman CAN act. Just not in Star Wars...
You're not the only one who hasn't seen it yet. :p

Christensen can act beyond "Looking broody"? Seriously?

The older Star Wars movies are a fun romp, the newer ones are crap. All the actors involved should be shot, imo. The better ones can be shot in the leg. Portman gets a shoulder however and Christensen gets one smack dab in the middle of the forehead. Thusly he will be put out of my misery.

when Euan shouts 'you were the chosen one' he actually means that Hayden was good enough to take one for the equity team by actually accepting the worst scripted role since... i don't know, Dean Cain in something.

As in "shattered glass - right through Hayden's face"? :)

Oh...

I thought he meant that into every generation a clunker is born. One actor in all the world with the strength and skill to fight the forces of acting... ooh, coffee time...
Grrr. Argh.

I'm fairly sure that a fair number of Christensen's scenes were done with a cardboard cutout in place of the actual actor. I swear it's the exact same face in at least four scenes that I can remember...

Actually knowing would require watching. I'd rather eat sand.

My variation would be "Mostly at the end of a Saturday night, all over the floor of the bar..."

I'll try to pick it up Spidey, hopefully I'll remember it next I'm at the vid store.

... If it's just more Christensen looking broody though I'm catching a plane to the UK just so I can turn up at your doorstep and throw the rental copy at you. Then I will leave it there and make you pay the late fees/ replacement fees for it. :(

Mostly true, but Ian McDermaid (sp?) did a kickass job as Palpatine and Liam Neesom was good as QuiGon.

Everyone else had a stick shoved so far up their ass it would have hurt too much to crack so much as a smile. I've seen mannequins with more expressive features.

Up until Episode III, when McDiarmid seemed to decide he was going to play the role as if he was in panto. He made me want to batter his face off with half a housebrick, and then smack his genitals off with a rolled-up newspaper.

I don't like sand. It's hot, and irritating.

Oh come on, someone was going to say it...*

He could kinda possibly use the "I was simply imitating the original performance" excuse... but then again, that one was crap, too.

Mmmmm, saaaaaaaaaaaaand.

From what I've seen of him in other things, Diarmid is one of those actors who seems to only ever play one role - himself.

Sometimes that works, sometimes not.

I don't recall Palpy saying this.

Anyway, I enjoyed his performance. Granted, against a backdrop of Portman and Christensen, a piece of **** on a mid summers day would look quite appetizing, but even still, I thought he was great. He and Liam Neeson really were the only characters who did as good as the original cast with Harrison Ford and Alec Guiness.
