Could anybody reccomend to me a Digital Camera

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

I like Canon CCDs. You can pick up dirt cheap digicams with high resolution these days, but the bit that actually captures the image is most important. Especially if you want close-up shots.

Older models are really cheap by now -- if you want postcard sized prints, all you need is 3mpx+ (2 at a push) and some form of optical zoom (where the lens moves, rather than software trying to guess detail after the shot's been taken -- which is all "digital zoom" is.) Just have a browse of online stores.

A good review site is http://www.dpreview.com

A friend of mine is an enthusiastic picture-taker (?) and he has this one Canon IXUS 700 (outside Europe they are called SD 500 I think.
