If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Frankly, I would have put Chaplin much higher up. But since it was actually voted on by actual actors, I guess it holds atleast some credit.

Personaly speaking i thik Brando is hammy method actor known for one part only.

Where as, for me Hopkins pees on everyone from a great height, the man is totaly captivating at whatever he does.

Well thats why he is number 3 (although I prefer him over Johnny Depp).

Marlon Brando is pure class and an example, he deserves the number one spot.

Cant belive depp is 2nd, thats just toaly daft, when you consider him against say, De-Nero or Pachino, or Day-Lewis thats just laughable.

hes as good as Brad Pitt, fine actors but out of thier league.

I think he will deserve that spot -maybe- but in 20 years.

I agree with the top two, #1 Brando and #2 Depp.

I like Depp, but hes no where near the class of Hopkins, in remains of the day or scilence of the lambs for example.

Depps characters have in general been excentric types - Ive yet to see him play a wider variety of roles and show me hes more then Jack Sparrow.

This is why I fel Hopkins is better all round, even Brad pitt to be honest because they have shown far more different skills on the screen, and stage then Depp has of yet.
If anything since 21 jumpstreet, Depps orginal TV role, he has played a similar ecentric everytime, compare that to Hopkins or Pitt and they continue to further themselves.

For all of Pachinos greatness they get lumbered with similar type cast roles. which brings me back to Day-Lewis who is a totaly amazing actor who deserved much more.

Day Lewis is amazing I'll agree. But Brando has done much more than one role! And Depp is very versatile, as much as I like Pacino and DeNiro he has shown greater range.

The only thing I think about when I hear Pacino and De Niro is "maffia" or "angry cop".

Depp has been a pirate, a writer, a doll, a poet, an FBI agent, a gipsy, a cop infiltrating the maffia, etc.

i forgot about donny Brasco - thats an intersting role for Depp and shows some diversity. hes still totaly out acted by Pachino, but then Al is in his element, angry mobster...

In alot of his roles tho he plays an eccentric, slightly whacky character, perhaps its because he works with Tim Burton alot?

Apart from Apocalypse now and mainly the Godfather I guess most of Brandos work was alot earlier in Cinema and admitedly I havnt seen much.

He was Jor-El!

(apparently he read his lines off cue cards in that movie because he couldn't be arsed! World record payment for the job at the time too)

yeah, the bulk of his work seems to be in the 50's/60's... and apparently only 2 films in the 80's!

He definitely seemed to have lost interest in the end. Apocalypse Now seems to have been his last committed performance, and even then apparently he made most of his lines up.

Burton directing Depp, with Elfman on the score does seem to be a winning combination, tho?

Actually I'm a bit sick of Burton. Everyone seems to love his stuff while I find it unnecessarily twee and samey these days - it's like he's forgotten how to do dark and atmospheric and would prefer to keep it lighthearted and just slightly weird.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!
