Internet connection problem

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Internet connection problem

Post by Impactor returns 2.0 » Thu Mar 09, 2006 8:31 pm

My internet conn keeps going down on my workstation - I recently installed a new copy of Norton 2006.

Its hard to know if its norton tho, because my conn will work upon a restart then it will stop, ive checked to se how many packets have been sent and its a random figure so I cant work out if its bandwidth?

I have tried disabling Norton, and the same problem happens again.

A restart of the whole comp always fixes the issue, but a restart of the connection will not.

My laptop I run off a router works even when my Workstation which is connected to the same router doesnt.

any ideas? cacheing error?

If it's just your workstation, and restarting the pc is the only way to resolve the issue, it sounds as if either the problem is with your network card, the card's driver or some software is interfering with the card.

Norton 2006 may well be the culprit. Some software prefers to use its own drivers rather than the ones used by the OS, and sometimes this can cause problems.
