Liverpool were lacking in every area today. The striker situation at the moment is a bit of a joke, but I'm convinced it's as much to do with the tactics than the players themselves.
It's a shame we couldn't put up more of a fight to defend a trophy we fought so hard to win. Fair play to Benfica though, they did really well.

Ok, well aslong as we are clear on this whole 'content' rule, I wasnt aware that a post had to contain a certain amount, sorry about that.Best First wrote:yes, because i have suggested that your post is a bit lacking in content, that means i want you to write 25,000 words. Obvioulsy.
I think Liverpool pressed hard but thier final ball lacked anything, it was hooffed up in the air to many times, and when fowler came on I think pool were even worse, he just strikes me as a bit past it now.
Gerrard was good tho, always looking for an inventive cross from all angles, he was much more impressive then Lampard last night who just didnt feature.
Credit to Arsenal I guess, they kept playing the footbal they know, but I think its fair to point out that some of the passing by both sides was shocking, it was like ping-pong in places. i feel a better side would have hit either side on the break. Also i think as soon as arse face a side like AC Milan or somthing thier lack of strength on the ball will be shown up as it has done all season in the premm.
All good for me of course, I dont support other teams in Europe unless its England.

there is, however, equally no rule saying people can't criticise posts for being pretty f'n pointless.
Liverpool should be regretting not resigning Owen based on to what i have seen of tonight, they need a 20 goal a season man. I can see them fluffing second as well, which didn't look likley just after xmas. ged's doing well though - bloody Maclaren getting rid of the little fella on a free.
Aresnal have done a good job, but i can't see them going much further. Be cool if they did but on paper there are much better teams in the mix.
I can't believe The Special One was trying to cliam that the better team had not won, Barca pretty much owned Chelese. I can see why Ronaldinho would rather stay there than go to Chelsea, who utterly lacked imagination.
Whether i support teams in Europe or not depends what mood i am in and how they have been in the league, how much of a tit their manager is etc.

I expect in the summer that both Morientes and Cisse will be sold and frankly good riddands to both of them. Morientes has been truly awful all season and Cisse while having pace has virtually no finishing ability, we would seriously be better off with pongolle who has just as much pace, and is probably a slightly better finisher with a better attitude.
As Best First says a 20 goal a season man is crucial to any team. Liverpool according to the stats have had the second most shots on target, attacking runs, corners and loads of other attacking stats, but are about 6 or 7th from bottom in terms of goals scored, what would happen if we had a decent striker?
Arsenal could do quite well I can see them being able to beat Benfica, Villereal and the winner of the Ajax/Inter game, if there is a favourable draw they could get one of these while the bigger teams play each other and knock eachother out, thus letting Arsenal get all the way to the final.

What do you guys think about that there is 0 english men playing in the quarterfinal? (the only english dude I know of in Arsenal is Cole, and he's injured, right?)
Will it help you in the World cup (players are rested)?
Or will it [composite word including 'f*ck'] you over? (no english players getting tough matches, pressure, etc. Yes I know the premiership is hard, and bla bla, but it's a different thing playing in europe against other kinds of footy styles)
Or maybe you think it just doesn't matter?

I think its a good point, on one hand its good to have ENglish players playing against other top opposition, on the other hand theres less chance of injury and they should be fitter for the WC.
Liverpool so needed Owen it ws un true, like someone else said, I thought they might pip United for 2nd, but I cant see that now, even with the fact United have no midfield at all now...

yeah, that's a good question Ob. in all honesty i don't know.
less matches in the run up to the world cup is probably a good thing, but then experience playing at that level and more speciically against the players that they are likley to be facing is invaluable.
i think overall its probably a bad thing, i think if we had dropped Stevie G into a world cup after last years CL final he might have been able to win it on his own.

I honestly think that even Owen would struggle to score 20 goals in the liverpool team. I hope they regret not signing him back though.Impactor returns 2.0 wrote: Liverpool so needed Owen it ws un true, like someone else said, I thought they might pip United for 2nd, but I cant see that now, even with the fact United have no midfield at all now...
Fowler, may be past it yes, didn't stop me crying with happy tears when he resigned though! Over the last 5 or 6 games he has played well IMO. He's been unlucky with having a couple of good goals disallowed. His game on Saturday was the first 90 minutes he has completed since last May, you have to give a player an opportunity to get fit again before writing them off, the sad thing with Fowler is that injuries and fitness stopped him from reaching the top.
