I like comics, How 'bout you?

Even the notion of an X-event just bores me to tears, sorry. Pretty excited about all the Avengers stuff, and the upcoming Annihilation 2. Nova has been great so far. WWH I read in the store, Hulk Smash! is pleasing stuff but not worth owning, really.
Did anyone get the new Tank Girl from IDW?
And if anyone's thinking about picking up Sub-Mariner....don't bother.
Ditching the second-string SM comics and just going with ASM three times is almost a brilliant idea IMHO. Almost.

It's definitely who everyone wants. I don't think he's got anything else on his plate besides Avengers: Initiative, AND he's been doing a little Spidey in the FCBD issue and A:I #3.

No, but he was pegged out besides that. He started golden, though. I think he has a great handle on how to write the Spider-Man characters, it's just that some of the plot directions he went in were a bit unnecessary, really.
I'm glad he's going, it's a good time. Fair play to him for all the good work he did bringing Spidey back up there, though.
If that Annual he did is anything to go by, I'd love Fraction to do some more Spidey. Great approach to the marriage and the 'on-the-run' thing Spidey has now. He used events and characters from JMS's run as well, like MJ's time in Cali and that detective fellow, which was nice. He'd write some crazy-fun stories as well.

JMS Pluses:
Excellent characterization
Fixed the marriage
Made May awesome
JMS Minuses:
Spider Totem stuff, although at the start, with the Ezekiel storylines, it was cool, but by the Ohter, it sucked hard.
Sins Past.
Still though, I thought he finished up strong, and his long run overall was quite good. Remember, ASM was selling like 30k when he started. Now it's consistently around or above 100k.
But like KM said, it's time to go. It's a good point to jump off, good time to give someone else a chance. JMS has his hands full with Squadron Supreme/Thor/Silver Surfer Requiem/Unannounced Project/B5 DVDs right now.
That Annual WAS great, but Fraction's already got Punisher, Iron Fist, and The (champions) Order on his plate, so I can't see him taking on another title, especially a flagship one.

Did you guys hear who's taking over Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane? I thought THAT would tear the internet in half.
Marvel has potential, I'll give them that. They are clearly at a point where they are willing to do ANYTHING to their characters including kill/unmask them. If they could just get away from huge universe-altering cross-overs every couple of months, I think it could be great.
Oh, and if they would stop hiring people who can't meet deadlines, that would help too. I don't mind a short delay. 5 or 6 weeks in between issues now and then? No big deal. 3, 6, or 18 MONTHS between issues? That's a problem for me.

I'm just glad they didn't cancel it, which seemed to be a serious consideration for a brief period, there. We'll just have to see how it goes, tho I admit I'm a bit dubious. Never really read Strangers in Paradise though, so I don't have lot to go on.Smooth wrote:Did you guys hear who's taking over Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane? Well, WWH Frontline and X-Men are already TONS better than CW Frontline (no idiotic war paralells) and CW X-Men (It's got Hulk Smashing/Xavier psychically displying the pain Hulk has endured to all the X-Men/Wolverine sinking his claws into ol' Greenskin)
AND I finally got to catch up on Ultimates with the relase of the TPB. Pretty freakin' bad ass, I must say. Ultimate Iron Man is a complete bad ass, although he CLEARLY should be laying some pipe to Pepper.
SO glad I waited for the trade on this instead of being strung out over a couple years.

SPOILERS on World War Hulk #1
Just read WWH #1 and Hulk #107. Didn't like the way the schalacking of Black Bolt happened off screen. I mean, how did Hulk take him down? He was the biggest threat to Hulk, and they decide to show Iron Man vs. The Hulk instead. Lame, IMO.

"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.
Got my hands on the Pride of Baghdad story by Vaughan.
It was good on many levels, both artwise and storywise. Very thought provoking.
However, after experiencing the masterpiece that is Watership Down, also my favorite movie of all time, I think Pride doesn't have that uniqueness to it. They are both very similar, and I think the "been there, done that" feeling kind of crept in while reading Pride of Baghdad. Not to say it wasn't good, but I think anyone who has experienced Watership Down might not find Pride of Baghdad that special. At least for me it wasn't. Certainly worthy of some of the accolades it has gotten, but not unique.

Fully agree! How about that Eagle dude, eh? That was something.Best First wrote:The latest issue of Thunderbolts was bloody amazing...
Also, I loved Silver Surfer:Requiem #2.
Now that's a comic. Phenomenal art and a touching story with really good humor. A solid "A" for both these issues from me.

Yep. Now lets never speak of it again.sprunkner wrote:Double post again! It's your fault for not answering me. [/wah]
So I read CW: Front Line.
W. T. F?
Tony Stark knew all along so he projected it and made it into a... thing that paid for the Initiative and so he... wha?
On a much BETTER Civil War note, here's Mark Millar's original pitch for the Civil War, with comments by Joe Q and Tom B. Very interesting read.

Jenna Jameson comic? Pssh, that's soooo late 90s. Where's my Ava Devine and Sunny Lane?
I looooove what this poster said about the announcement, though:

Finally, a project that's perfectly suited for Greg Land!

[composite word including 'f*ck']!
And I bought my Nextwave vol 2 hardcover today. Rar. Plus #1 of Doktor Sleepless, which I am yet to read.
I love that guy. And, frankly, I don't know that anyone had any expectations for my Thunderbolts run (which, like Nextwave, I write mostly for my own amusement).

Grrr. Argh.
Just read the latest Wolverine issue, the "conclusion" (said with derisive sarcasm) to the current Sabretooth storyline.
SPOILERS
What the [composite word including 'f*ck']? Do these guys take me for a ******* idiot?
What a waste! It took damn near six issues to have Wolverine chop Sabretooths head off with a sword? And worst of all, we don't get to even find out who the freak Romulus is and the mystery is as wide open as it's ever been.
That's it for me. This whole Wolverine thing has lead me nowhere fast, and I'm done paying for this crap. [/i]
