Actually, it could hinder him, since Tony knows the in and outs and desigend it himself.
But in case you haven't heard sprunk, they're going to be bringing back a Spider Man in Black very soon.

See what happens when you read what's been linked to?Warren Ellis wrote:To clear up a common misconception: NEXTWAVE was always pitched as an ongoing series. Yeah, comics is right up there along with World Cup and British SF Shows as far as big non religious/political topics.
Frontline's aiiight. Here's the thing, it's divided into four little things.
First thing is reporters. Some girl I can't remember and Ben Ulrich. Ulrich is uncovering the Thunderbolts program at the moment, and has even had a run in with Green Goblin. The girl was embedded with some anti regs until they got busted and now she's running the "reporter jailed for protecting sources" allegory.
Second is Speedball. He's in jail. Gitmo allegory. Recently, he got shot on the way to testify that was drawn Lee Harvey Oswald style. She Hulk shows up every once in awhile as his lawyer.
Third is Atlantis. They've got Sleeper Cells of Atlanteans, and this followed some of them being turned "on" and realizing they're Atlanteans. Then Wonder Man was onto 'em, and then he got pumpkin bombed along with the Atlantean Cell he was on to due to an overzealous Green Goblin.
Fourth is blatant offensive war allegory. They take a famous, real battle, juxtapose it against some instance of Civil War, and narrate both of them from a passage from a novel/poem/historical text. For example, last week, they compared a WWI battle where almost a million people died with Gobby's aforementioned pumpkin bombing of a dozen Atlanteans or so.
Overall, it's aiight. It adds something to the story, to be sure, more than most of the other tie ins. But IMO, it's running behind ASM as an essential tie in.

i wouldn't really makethat comparison.
if anything its more a poor man's Pulse.
the two main stories move between passable and good.
The Atlantean one seems a bit of a non entity, but i suspect may tie into cibil war when Namor turns up.
and the last bit is, as stated, a bit vile, but as it sonly 2-3 pages, fairly ignorable (or you can just enjoy the prose and ignore the pics).

So he's leaving Nextwave to draw something else. What could he possibly draw that wouldn't be a step down from one of the most buzzed about books that nobody's (apparently) reading? What hell? What book will he be doing that can't be a week late every so often so that Nextwave can continue! Come on, Marvel! Tell us what is so space-monkey important that Immonen can't provide us with Nextwave?
Oh, it's Ultimate Spider-Man.
...I'll shut up now.
YES! I HAVE FIVE-HUNDRED OF THE AMERICAN DOLLARS!!!

So what did everyone think of the CW this past week? If there's no responses by the time I wake up tomorrow, I'll post some spoilers.

Aiight then, Spoilers....
Let's see here...
Heroes for Hire, Paladin didn't actually capture Cap last ish, Cap (with the help of the Bruce Lee guy) switched places with Paladin real quick, and H4H let 'em go. Iron Man was pissed, but too bad. Now they're working on breaking up a Skrull organ transplanting ring (shape shifting organ + no superheroes = shape shifting non registered superheroes)
Captain America was pretty bad ass, of course. Winter Solider broke into SHIELD with the help of Fury and effectively bugged SHIELD's operations. Later, Red Skull has sold Doom something which reveals something grand about Doom to Doom. Doom is happy. Red Skull says he's going to use the payment to [composite word including 'f*ck'] people up. Skull is happy. Excelllent characterization abounds.
CW: Choosing Sides....basically all teasers for new ongoing serieses.
Venom - Mac sells the book/movie rights to his story before getting hunted down and joining Songbird and Radioactive Man of the Thunderbolts.
Howard the Duck - Howard goes to register, finds out he can't because, according to the powers that be, he doesn't exist.
Iron Fist - Basically details how Fist has been Daredevil. Conversation with Matt, getting surrounded by capekillers, talking about returning to be Iron Fist soon, etc.
US Agent - US Agent is working for the gov't, and he's going to go be part of the new Alpha Flight team under Stark's orders.
Ant Man - Basically just intro to Ant Man, although in this issue, Pym finds out that someone out there is using the suit that was stolen, and he wants to find out who. Loved the classic looking art in this one.
Guiding Light Story - Not even going to bother talking about it.
EDIT

that funny. I did notice the "pampered punk" comment was a bit Ultimates-y.
It's nice to see Marvel trying to mix it up and make their heroes hate each other like in the good old days. It makes me wonder what effect CW will have ten years down the line. Will it all be retconned or ignored or will this stuff lead into even cooler stuff?

Well, Joe Q has said that CW is in part an effort to get back that unease and level of distrust among superheroes like the classic stories.

Right, so I'm near up-to-date on Ultimate Spidey TPBs... after some disheartening dross, I'm just read Warriors... is it wrong for me to be in love with the Black Cat?
How come Nick Fury's back to being a Colonel in the Hobgoblin arc? Or is that something that happened in the second half of The Ultimates 2? I'm only as far as The Tempest in UXM, so it might be something to do with something in there... I'm confuzzled... help...
Love the way everybody refers to Gwen Stacy as "Gwen Stacy" instead of just Gwen... given events and the context they say her name in, you'd think it would be enough, but no - need to specify exactly which Gwen they're talking about.
Good stuff.

There'd be something with you wrong if you weren't. Rowr.Brendocon wrote:is it wrong for me to be in love with the Black Cat?
I liked Warriors. It seemed even better when you think about Hobgoblin that was before that. Somehow I find all the stories with Osborns and goblins the weaker parts of the book.
I think it was a mistake. I can't remember his degradation in any issue. Hobgoblin couldn't happen after The Ultimates 2 anyway, because Fury lost his arm in #10.Brendocon wrote:How come Nick Fury's back to being a Colonel in the Hobgoblin arc? Yeah, like I was saying on some other boards, it would've been much more convincing and cool if after Spidey got out of Stark Tower, he would've been confronted by Venom and GG, like the cover leads you to believe, instead of just Jack O Lantern and Jester.
Seeing his two arch villans on the side of the law with Tony's blessing would've been one hell of a final nail in the coffin for his switch.
Perhaps they'll go more into it in the next ASM.

Sorry - meant to say "good stuff" there. Took me a while to get a feel for the story, due to the hefty guest cast, but it was a definite step up from Superstars.Ozz wrote:I liked Warriors.
Well, he's still a Colonel in Silver Sable... oddness.I think it was a mistake. I can't remember his degradation in any issue.
And yeah - valid point on the spoilered stuff. Had heard that already... thought it might have been mid-arc, though... being as Ultimates stories take about a decade to come out...
