No, not asking about Foggy, you answered spot on, mate.
Thunderbolts is pretty good, but you could thumb through the the last few pages of both issues and basically get all you need to know.
Frontline is a bit of a weird beast, alright. I don't know about the parables. I mean, I understand what they're trying to do, but I don't like the analogy, and I'd rather have more story. You had to love seeing the Goblin, though. I just thought Frontline would be more SUPERHEROES and reporters, not superheroes and REPORTERS, you know?
52 is good in the sense that I don't give two s**** about DC outside of the Big Three, and I'm still buying it three months in. There are a lot of intriguing storylines, and I'm hoping that they actually start to come together at some point.

which i have just done. shazam. Orbital comics baby.Best First wrote:
i think its time to get a S/O down here.
Picked up about 3 months (£104 worth!) from the old place yesterday... woo, comics overkill.
lots of civil wart stuff going on, the main title is great stuff, and i have pretty much liked everything else as well, although there is a slight over abundance of "god i hope i'm doing the right thing" type agonising, especially on the side of the pro reg dicks. Plus seeing the same events from slightly different perspectives sometimes feels like getting half a comic. Cage issue was ace though.
I think i'll axe Exiles, its not the title it was and Bedard has really screwed over soem great characters without reaping any emotional reward.
Conversely Brian K is screwing over the runaways to fantastic effect - what a book.
Ultimates 11 - great. Can't wait for the next issue in 2 years time.
Ultimate Spidey - the Morbious story was a bit dull but Clone Saga looks promising.
And finally the best single exhange in a comic ever:
Tabitha: Ew! They shot their muck all over me
Aaron: Oh, like that hasn'ty happened before.
Anyway - back to reading.

Same here. That series just doesn't do it for me since Destroy All Monsters. If the new stuff with Wolverines is cack, I'm going to wait for Claremont.Best First wrote:I think i'll axe Exiles, its not the title it was and Bedard has really screwed over soem great characters without reaping any emotional reward.
Well, it's actually 2 months. But that's wondeful stuff. Hawkeye is awesome.Best First wrote:Ultimates 11 - great. Can't wait for the next issue in 2 years time.
Have you got 99 yet? At this point it's like "Oh, he's a clone. And he, too. So is she." And so on. Great. Not enough Kitty, though.Best First wrote:Ultimate Spidey - the Morbious story was a bit dull but Clone Saga looks promising.

I was more shocked about Pete's Dad and May's reaction than anything else.

Dude, they're clones too. Isn't it obvious? Plus, I half-expected that that guy will be Ben.Shanti418 wrote:Re: USM #99 SPOILERS
Well, I hope Whedon himself has a good one. If not, damn the whole series. I had super-cool Kitty and great lines in Ellis' Excalibur, plus Wisdom was there, among other things. This whole Torn arc relays too much on shock moments for my taste, and I really hope Joss knows what's he doing.Hound wrote:So who can explain the latest goings on in Astonishing X-men?

"Yeahbuhwah?"
Can't believe i forgot to commenton this - comic overload over here.
i liked the Collosus revelation - nice and poetic.
loved the pose on kitty at the end of 15.
oh, and Wolvie is hilariuous.
No idea where he is going with this White Queen stuff though. Still, i trust him for now (which i am sure he gives a rats ass about, maybe ill start my new reviews with the word Joss...)
Got USM 99 - i was expecting Ben as well, and equally suprised by May's reaction - i kind of hope they are clones but i think there is double bluff potential.
woo! comics.

During Deadpool, May went to a date with a guy named Miles Warren. Then she left Peter the message that she's having good time and she stayed for a night. I mean, if somebody's going to meet a guy whose counterpart in Marvel's proper Universe was responsible for the Clone Saga, comes back two days later and then starts to behave in a strange way, what's the obvious conclusion? But it might be that Bendis used Warren's name as a red herring, as you say. Tricky bastard.Best First wrote:Got USM 99 - i was expecting Ben as well, and equally suprised by May's reaction - i kind of hope they are clones but i think there is double bluff potential.
You guys know that Bagley is leaving after #110?
Me too. I'm hoping it isn't a whole "clone/twin/whatever" thing... that would be a hyuge anticlimax. Though the fact that "our" Emma seemingly wasn't aware of the other leads me to think it's not...Best First wrote:No idea where he is going with this White Queen stuff though. I dropped Exiles at about the time of the 2099 thing... actually, it was bang on in the middle of the 2099 thing. I bought the second issue but never read it and really don't feel like I'm missing anything.
Picking up Planetary and Y the Last Man in TPB form to keep me occupied. That and Astonishing = all I need.
Grrr. Argh.

I currently still go with my guess like 6 months ago or whenever it was #12 came out and we first saw these 'Hellfire Club' mooks. I posted it someplace around here. Or maybe at the Archive.Hound wrote:So who can explain the latest goings on in Astonishing X-men?
Best. Kitty. Issue. Ever
But essentially it was a guess that all the people represent an aspect of Emma's personality and she's basically imagining them and having a bit of a breakdown for whatever reason and that all the bad mojo she's working is exactly that, just mojo. For what it's worth, I guessed 'Perfection' as going to be revealed as looking like Jean Grey in the old White Queen uniform, so I was a bit out there.
I think that idea still goes, but does recquire a bit of refining what with the Cassie Nova flashback. I also think the Scott-mindshaft is a patented WHite Queen cruel-to-be-kind sneaky bitch move and that Scott's gonna come back in control of his optic beams and kick some ass just like she intended.
I like the way the writing has not invalidated my ol guess - unless I have missed something obvious- yet but has thrown some spanners in there too, like the flashback to before E is for Extinction. Good stuff. I hope I am flat out wrong. I'd rather be wrong as then I'd have been misled by a writer for ages and the revelation will be some awesome left-field thing and that would be ace.
I think that exchange is responsible for the book being bumped up to 'Mature' status in the next solicits, as it seems to have slipped past the Marvel guys and they are needing to cover their backs.BF wrote:Tabitha: Ew! They shot their muck all over me

******* funny as [composite word including 'f*ck'] tho. That issue is just the best thing.
The Dread Dorkannu or whatver he's called is comedy gold:
"Ha!! I have one hundred of your Earth dollars!!!"
"I want women. You are aware of thesuicidegirls internet site? Those ones. With the piercings. No blondes."
And Mindless Ones on skateboards! With baseball caps on backwards! "And oh my God, they explode! My life has new meaning!"
Nextwave is joycore.
What do you guys think of Civil War Frontline? I'm finding it really quite seedy. Don't like the parable back up things at all. And most of the rest of it is a bit meh. And Jenkin's pet reporter character gives me the heebie-jeebies.
Oh, I recently read like all of the Walking Dead, and it was really, really good. Although the last 2 issues were a little bit too grim for me, even for an explicit zombie horror comic.

Aaargh! >_< I haven't been able to read up on SO many comics in the recent month!
Anyways, one of the few that I did manage to read up on, was Annihilation #1. Altho Andrea Divito of Thor and Beta Ray Bill fame didn't quite blow my arse away as much as he did on Stormbreaker, Giffen's script was solid and the way the road they're taking their cosmic characters down is a very pleasing one.
And Nova finally got laid!!

the parables seem a bit random to me, i don't think they tie in too well, comparing Ireon Man & Cap kicking each other in the head to World War One doesn't really sit well.KingMob wrote: What do you guys think of Civil War Frontline? However to be honest i like the rest of it, i don't mind Jenkins character, even if she is no Jessica Jones and Jonah & Urich are always good value. I am actually feeling sorry for speedball as well.
Civil War: X-Men is boring and a bit daft though.
Yeah man, I liked that one too. You know how it could get cooler?Predabot wrote: Anyways, one of the few that I did manage to read up on, was Annihilation #1. Spaceknights.
Have to agree on CW: X-Men. Not keen on the 198 plot or the manga-Sentinels. Liked that the 'rogue' X-Men put on the old New X-Men outfits tho, just a minor thing but nice.

Then you shall have your WISH Mr Mob.
Haha. Personally I'm still hoping for the return of an obscure character myself, Sundragon, nice cousin of Moondragons.that cheeky bast Giffen wrote:NRAMA: Can you give us a hint about some obscure characters we might see?

That's so cool. I wonder if it will take into account that Spaceknights mini-series from some years ago? I liked what they did with the concept in that.Predabot wrote:Then you shall have your WISH Mr Mob.

Did you pick up CSI: Dying in the Gutters? It's pretty funny if you know your comics.

I loved Annihilation #1 as well. Great popcorn space war.
CW: X Men isn't that great, but neither is Young Avengers and Runaways.
Frontline is aiiight. I think the parable thing has been played out. The first two storylines have been slow going, but it seems like they're picking up steam. In just enough time for them to get delayed by the CW mainline.

Had utterly forgotten due to the gaps between issues, but up until the point Peter started thumping chunks out of Shaw, I was convinced they were all figments of Emma's imagination. Okay, the Nova interaction with Hank sort of undermined it, but there was heavy inferrence she wasn't physically present.
The flashback doesn't necessarily undermine the theory, as far as I can see. The whole thing being a corporeal manifestation of Emma having a giant nervous breakdown seems the most likely explanation. Especially now that I've Wiki'd Negasonic Teenage Doodah and have remembered who the hell she is.

That theory could still be true, cause Shaw actually can be real, unlike others. Ellie is dead, Nova is... hell, I don't know what Morrison did with her in the end (probably he turned her into that girl, Ernst) and Perfection we just saw.Brendocon wrote:Had utterly forgotten due to the gaps between issues, but up until the point Peter started thumping chunks out of Shaw, I was convinced they were all figments of Emma's imagination. There's still the mystery of who is Blindfold talking to.

...uh, it is Scott, right?
And wheee! Another appearance of an old New X-Men jacket! Those outfits are coming back more times than some of the characters introduced in that run!
Still not enough Lockheed love, tho. More Lockheed!
Cassie Nova did indeed end up as Ernst - despite what nonsense Chuck Austen may have tried to feed everyone - but as the body she is in is that of Stuff, the Shi'Ar shapeshifter, she could easily take back her 'original' appearance if she wanted to. If she's even real, that is.

They are all real!
Could Blindfold be the Sword informant?
Hidako is cool, and seems slightly cooler since her future self cameo'd in Runaways.
Utterly agree about Lockheed.
Considering how aces the two components are CW: Runaways & Young Avengers is indeed a bit rumpy pump. Not a fan of the art.
Unstoppable, yes.

quite old news but i was not aware of this:
http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=80636
i.e Civil War delays on pretty much everything.
boo-urns, but reasonable justification from Millar, although you have to ask why McNiven didn't get more lead time.
