I like comics, How 'bout you?

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Stuff happened in Avengers Arena? Wowsers.
Hound wrote:It's pretty average. It's a shame as visually I love it. The costumes are fantastic.

The censored swear words drive me nuts. X-Men books have had far darker and grittier story lines without needing that ****.
Also: third person past-tense narration. What's that about?
X-Men #1 was the nuts though.
Brian Wood should write lots more X-stuff. Heart and win etc.

This week's All-New X-Men was awesomesauce.

The end of the latest issue of Thor read a lot like the conclusion to a certain titanic clash from Target: 2006.

"Until at last a winner emerges from the conflagration... AND IT IS GORR-VATRON!"

Not complaining - brill issue and i get to be reminded of a Furman/Senior highlight at the same time.

Yeah, Thor is on a real high right now. I loved the Fraction run but loving Aaron's take even more.

I love that Age of Ultron serves as a massive justification for Marvel to f*ck their continuity and leave it f*cked.

Question about Age Of Ultron: since it was supposedly written some time ago and delayed in favor of Avengers vs. X-Men, can it be read before Marvel Now series? I heard that it's best to catch up with Uncanny Avengers before reading UA #8AU (heh), but what about Wolverine and the X-Men and others? They're in an alternate reality anyway, right? I'd like to get into Hunger as soon as possible, but at the same time would prefer to take my time with other stuff, so if I don't need to read all Marvel Now I want to before AOU, that would be cool.

The Wolverine & X-Men issue of AU has absolutely nothing to do with the ongoing series, other than having Wolverine in it. I'd say to read it between issues 6 and 7 of Age of Ultron.

As far as the Uncanny Avengers tie-in issue goes... I'd say between 8 and 9 of Ultron, and also between 8 and 9 of Uncanny Avengers.

I think so long as you've done Age of Ultron before you get onto the Infinity stuff that's starting up, you'll be alright.

OK, thanks. What about other series? For example do I need to catch up with All-New X-Men or Gillen's Iron Man before AOU? The plan currently is: Avengers vs. X-Men -> final pre Marvel Now issues of Avengers, Uncanny X-Force and the like -> Uncanny Avengers -> Age of Ultron -> other Marvel Now series.

I don't think you need to have read any of the Marvel NOW stuff to read Age of Ultron, to be honest. The only crossover issues I've read are the Wolv/XM and Uncanny Avengers issues, and UA is the only one of those two to have any connection to its own series. And if you want you can skip it from AoU and just read it later as part of Remender's stuff.

Gillen's Iron Man is, presumably, set before Guardians of the Galaxy, but that's one of those continuity things that we won't be able to see clearly until it's all been settled.

Remender's Uncanny X-Force stuff is all set before AvX. Liu's Astonishing X-Men stuff seems to be set afterwards.

AvX Consequences is between Gillen's Uncanny X-Men and Uncanny Avengers, though it overlaps a bit with the beginning of the Avengers stuff.

X-Termination is set before #6 of Bendis' Uncanny X-Men. I think the new Uncanny X-Men starts about the time of All-New #8. Uncanny #4 is the flip-side to All-New #10.

Er, yeah. Think that's everything.

Isn't Hunger pretty much set in the Ultimate U? So other than knowing that "something" has caused some inter-demensional funnage i'm not really sure AOU is a must.

Altho it's quite fun in places. If a What If in others.

Thanks again. Good call on Remender's X-Force. I was going to use AvX tie-in issues to determine what goes before and what after, but now I see that one doesn't have any, so I'll get to it sooner.

It is, but I'm going to read AOU anyway, so might as well do it in correct-ish order. :)

So, doesn't anybody have any thoughts or feelings on the planned RETURN OF MARVEL UK next year?

http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page ... e&id=46899

Apparently, it's been 20 years. That's quite some time, I must say...

On the good side of the news, is that they've got a series of One-shot's planned, featuring pretty much ALL of the main characters of the MUK! =) Death's Head II, Warheads, Dark Angel, are already confirmed.

The guy heading it all up is Andy Lanning... which admittedly, isn't THAT great, since he's not that good. But hey, it could be worse, it could be Dan Abnett.

SO, what do you guys want to see? What one-shots are absolutely integral to you?

Oh btw, the story is supposedly that it will feature the return of the MysTech corporation/society, as the main villains, and the name Revolutionary War, suggests to me, that they WILL CONQUER THE ENTIRE ISLE!!

Soon... brittons, you will all be under the heel of the Devil-worshippers...

Death's Head II is sh*t.

And the worst time to bring him back is when the original all singing all dancing all freelance all peackeeping agent is utterly bossing it in the pages of Iron Man.

Poor editorial yes?

What better way to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the death of Marvel UK than to resurrect the **** titles that signed its death certificate!

Got Saga volume 2 and Prophet volume 1.

All good comics take place in space now. It is known.

I picked up vol 1 of Prophet a while back, but just didn't feel it. There were some great ideas in there, it just didn't work for me. :/

I have just finished reading The Infinite Vacation, though. Which is amazzzzzzing.

Also: the conclusion to Thor's Godbomb arc. Well good yo.

Protip - if you're gonna bring back Marvel UK, don't do it with that ****** lineup. Give us Dragon's Claws and proper Death's Head.

Or eat all the dicks.

I've kinda dropped out of most of Marvel's current runs, right now all I read are the Deadpool ones (Of which I have to say, the main title is pretty uninteresting right now, though the Deadpool kills the MU-> Deadpool Killustrated-> Deadpool Kills Deadpool miniseries arc is AWESOME) and Cable. Gotta say, this alternate future Hope (Strope? Strype?) is way better dressed. Too bad she probably won't end up adopting that costume permanently.

Anyone care to give me a concise summary of the big events since AvX?

Thor. Awesome.

Young Avengers trade today. Also awesome. Kid Loki is even better than Lady Loki.

Got Fear Itself from the library. I remember why I didn't read this when it came out--the comic store smelled like Costa.

Struggling with Uncanny Avengers, to be honest. Probably work better on re-read.

Regular Avengers is good, though - finally catching up in that via trades and switching to singles so that I can read them once the third trade is out so I can be up to date and read Infinity so that I can actually safely read Guardians. Boo crossover stuff.

Iron Man good. Young Avengers amazing. Thor great.

Battle of the Atom just blew up my brain.

Also just finally sat down and caught up with the post-Ultimatum Ultimate Peter Parker stuff. Epic sadface. Onto Miles soon.

Other catch-up stuff I'm on includes 100 Bullets and DMZ. Have recently also started Geoff John's post-Rebirth Green Lantern stuff, which is patchy but shows promise.

Grr comics.

i have pretty much stopped with all of DC except for Wonder Woman which is bloody awesome.

Oh and JLA just kinda cos. I may drop it though, it's pretty meh.

War of the Atom is shaping up nicely. Bendis is hitting the X-nail on the X-head for me. Altho he would probably be better off using a philips screw driver based on that description.

I kinda know what you mean on UA, but i am giving Remender the benefit of the doubt in terms of payoff given his other work.

It's only when it's laid out like that that I realise just how much of a chrono-b0rk the current Marvel universe is in.

do they need to do a big reset/clean up? It doesn't feel like it. Unless the New 52 has been far more successful than i realised vs Marvel Now.

I don't believe they do. Most Buzzfeed articles are just an excuse to throw in images (I mean that one just doesn't need those DC pics at all). But I hadn't realised just how much of the current storylines revolve around time travel until it was laid out like that. Thought it was worth a post.

yeah it's an interesting point in that sense at least altho the fact that my reaction is the same makes me think Marvel are not trying to specifically set something up.

Part of me think's it's just making use of the Age of Ultron as a spring board for stories in several cases - Spidey being a good example.

Forgot to have Superior Spider-man on my list - it's ridiculously good fun.

The Marvel multiverse will be fine no matter how much time travel they throw at it.
That nonsense about time rifts threatening realities is something we all know tends to sort itself out, I mean, Earth-120185 of that very same multiverse got by just fine when that spacetime rift came close to gobbling it all up, right?
