I like comics, How 'bout you?

I just ordered a batch of Ultimate Marvel trades to take me upto pretty much where Ultimatum happens. I figure that I invested enough time and money on the story upto there that I may as well finish it. Last couple of Spidey, Ultimates 3, Wolvey vs Hulk, Ultimate Power... of course I can't really remember what happened up until where I am, but sod it.
The X-Men/Fantastic Four Ultimatum book is set before the main Loeb title, yeah? Same with the Spidey TPB by the same name?

No. Ultimatum is one of those crossovers that's not easy to read in trade form. The ideal would be to read it in the order the singles were released (well, almost, because the main title was delayed).Brendocon wrote:The X-Men/Fantastic Four Ultimatum book is set before the main Loeb title, yeah? I haven't re-read it in trades yet, but from what I remember the best compromise between reading the story in correct-ish order and keeping jumping between books to minimum would be:
- first half of main title (issues #1-3)
- two other books
- second half of main title
There's also the March on Ultimatum TPB, and that one is set before the crossover, but I guess that's easily to gather from the title alone.
EDIT: Oh, and Ultimatum: Requiem, which is the epilogue.
Yeah, March and Requiem sort of stood out fairly straightforwardly as being before and after respectively.
Cheers squire. They don't make it easy, do they? This is part of the reason I steer clear of the main universe books... whenever they do a crossover (which has been more frequent in the past few years), it's an absolute mission to try and work out what I need to read in what order. Easier not to bother most of the time.
So...
- Ultimate Power
- Ultimate Origins
- The Ultimates 3
- March on Ultimatum (the annuals, yeh?)
- First half of Ultimatum TPB
- Spider-Man v22
- Ultimatum: Fantastic Four / X-Men
- Second half of Ultimatum TPB
- Ultimatum: Requiem
Yeah?
I have a very bad feeling about this.
Is the "Ultimate Comics" universe follow-ups any good? The presence of Millar on the Avengers stuff makes me hopeful, but I can't help noticing the word "Loeb" cropping up on a lot of it.

Yeah. If you have Ellis' Ultimate Human (trade might be called Ultimate Hulk vs. Iron Man), then it goes between Power and the annuals.Brendocon wrote:So...

Yeah?
Loeb only wrote Ultimate Comics X (probably his best work in Ultimate, but sort of cut short because of the delays) and Ultimate Comics New Ultimates, five issues each.Brendocon wrote:Is the "Ultimate Comics" universe follow-ups any good? Bendis is still Bendis on Spider-Man, but whether you'll like the art is another issue. He also wrote an event similar in structure to Ellis' Gah-Lak-Tus.
Millar's UC Avengers is definitely not his Ultimates, but still can be a fun read if you like Millar.
There are also minis with Iron Man (Ellis is having a bit of fun again), Thor (set before The Ultimates) and Captain America.
And the realunch of Ultimate universe that has just started so far is really good. I'd continue post Ultimatum just for that.

Read the first trade of Uncanny X-Force.
ARE YOU ******* HAPPY NOW, OPR?
It's pretty damn good. Nice ending.

Numbers don't lie--married Spidey beats single Spidey.

Anyone else read Craig Thompson's Habibi? I have a [composite word including 'f*ck'] to say about it:

Here's another take on that, Bumblemus, perhaps a bit more critical:

I read that about halfway through writing the review. I was always a bit weirded out by the white guy drawing the Arabic girl as she is raped, so that kind of helped me think it through.
