Ignoring the obligatory Predabot joke, I sometimes feel like this with Grant Morrison. I imagine it as a hint of schizophrenia.Predabot wrote: I think I must have a differently organized brain than the majority of peeps online, because it does appear as if I belong to a minority that can actually see the patterns in Hickman's writing.

New Uncanny Xforce is out and I am helping a local comic shop out by ordering it from them.. unfortunately I accidentally read the last panel at Hastings while waiting for my order so I know how it plays out.

Oh yeah, Invincible kicks the collective asses of every other superhero comic, only because it can actually grow and change and go somewhere as the writers want and not the board of directors.

Dropped a lot of titles recently. Done with all Bendis titles. No more SHIELD, getting tired of Secret Warriors. They took Brubaker off Daredevil, so I think I'm chucking that too. Dropped all the Deadpool stuff I was reading.
Hearing a lot of good things about X-force, both from here, my bro, and others, so I think I'm going to give the trade a shot.
Still going with Thunderbolts, Secret Avengers, and Avengers:Academy for now.
Slim pickings from Marvel for me now. Excited about Godzilla and the few manga I like.
Read The Stuff of Legend. Not bad. Sort of a more serious take on Toy Story. Have some new volumes of Mouse Guard I'm looking forward to.

No, but if you're recommending them, I'll give them a try. I'm all caught up on Naruto and 20th Century Boys and now have to wait like three months for the next volume to come out, which sucks.Professor Smooth wrote:Yaya, have you read Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO) or Gokusen? Fun reads from beginning to end.
This just in. Apparently, rumor from IDW is that Godzilla #1 will be their highest selling comic in history and will actually land the comic in the top 10 most sold comics for the month in the U.S. That, I did not expect.

I feel compelled to mention that it has quite possibly got the biggest promo-setup of all time in comics, quite possibly a contender for the Guinness book of Records:Yaya wrote: This just in. It's got 80 - EIGHTY alternate covers.

So... I think that may just have a teensy, weensy bit to do with the high sales...
But, I do think there is also some genuine interest in this book. Great character, written by a top flight creator. It's got potential.
I'm pretty pumped myself, actually.

I have to officially say that uncanny xforce is the first comic I have read in a long time that gets better and better each issue. Its like I keep waiting for the "letdown issue" (I'm looking at YOU, X 23), and it just refuses to let its foot off the gas.
You really need to be reading this series.

Yes. Nice to see 20th Century Boys and Urasawa get the recognition they deserve.
Anyone read The Dapper Men graphic novel by McCann? Heard great things about it, and it's up for an Eisner also.
I find myself kind of taking the approach I do with comics that I do with the Oscars. I wait to see what's nominated and they go read them.

Is anybody else kind of annoyed with Marvel's habit of advertising their next big event before the current one is finished?
SPOILER
Marvel's got a cross-over between Ultimate Spider-Man and New Avengers vs New Ultimates called "The Death of Spider-Man." It's set to wrap up in June.
Today, Marvel announced an all new Ultimate Spider-Man (new costume, new secret identity) will debut after "Death of Spider-Man."
What the hell? The arc's only HALF over. One of the big questions that people discuss during any "Death of..." arc is, "how can this fictional universe go on without this character?" And now that's already been answered. "New guy under the mask."
Since it's Bendis, I can be pretty sure that it'll be something I enjoy. But did they really need to advertise this far in advance? I prefer Marvel to DC in most cases, but DC does a MUCH better job with letting their stories advertise themselves. Just look at the last few pages of Brightest Day #23. Could they have popped the sales numbers a bit by advertising it in advance? Yeah, probably. Was it a nice surprise for readers who had no idea it was coming? You bet your ass.

TBH, you still don't know how it really ends. Does he die? Does he not? If not, what will happen to him? How exactly the thing in the white text happens, what leads to it, what are the reasons for it? What happens with Avengers/Ultimates? But there's still three months so Marvel will probably manage to answer most/all those questions before we see it in print.

Sooo... the Invincible Viltrumite War trade is out! Woo!
Damn, this was a bloody gory bloody gory comic. You've got to love a trade paperback that features not one, not two, but THREE instances of someone getting their intestines punched out their back.
I'm torn on the gore in this comic. On the one hand, I like the realistic depiction of what superheroes might actually do to one another--ie, punch a guy so hard his brains fly out. On the other hand, man is it a lot to stomach.
Anyway. Bitchin comic. It was really cool when the spoiler went spoiler because they punched right through the spoiler. And the ending, when she was spoiler because of spoiler but you STILL don't know what spoilered?
