But the women-pill has nasty by-effects on quite a lot of women too. They just have to make lots of different man-pills so you'll always have some that works for you.Obfleur wrote:I heard that they hade a lot of problem with the hormone dosage. Oh yes. The by-effects for women can be really horrible (like dying, or having to amputate a leg, etc).Eline wrote:But the women-pill has nasty by-effects on quite a lot of women too. Are you serious? Or are these the by-effects of the man-pill?

Yes I am serious. And they can be bi-effects of the female-pill.Eline wrote:

The female-pill can cause thrombus (I googled it, don't know if it's right).
Which means that your arteries get clogged up with cloted blood.
This can lead to ampution of the bodypart where the clogg is - or death.
If you are gonna start eating the pill in sweden, you always go through a medical exame where they ask you if "thrombus" (and heart problems and stuff) is something that runs in the family - and even if it doesn't run in the family, they take a blood sample from you and see if you are likely to get hit with this "clogging of the arteries".

There's a picture of it.

The pill can also cause depressions, weight gain (the pill can give you a bigger appetite, even though you dont need more food. Also your body can start to "contain more water" [don't know how to translate it]). You can also lose your sexual drift, the mucous membrane in the vagina can get "dryer" causing damage and pain, etc.
But there's a lot of "ifs" and "maybe" And a lot of people don't get these bi-effects (and if you get one of them, you can always try another brand of pill. Or try mini-pills).
So don't think to much about this.
The thing I would worry about is the blood-thing.
And I also think that the doctor should've told you about this stuff.
Did he tell you what to do if you forget to take a pill one day?

You guys have some ****** up odds which I don't understand (7 - 13. What the hell does that mean?)
But to answer your question: not many will get the blood-thing (especially not here since you get tested for it).
I cant give you a figure though... two out of a hundred, or something like that? So it's really not something to be afraid of - but it's better to be on the safe side IMO.
But a lot of people get other bi-effects, but they don't care about it. They think it's "normal", or they just dont notice it.
A woman can start eating the pill, and seven months later the bi-effect can show it's ugly face (lets say she gets really angry and depressed).
Since it was seven months since she started with the pill she might think "It cant be the pill, 'cause it was so long since I started eating them".
So when it comes to mood swings and stuff like that, it's hard to say.
The bi-effect can also increase with 5% every month (okey, I have no idea how to describe it ).
But lets say the woman gets 5% angrier every month - because it happens like this, she might not notice that she is getting angrier/is acting different (much like your hair growing, you really dont notice it grow).

Yeah, when I first suggested to my ex that she might like to change her pill it was after a gradual increase in her anger during pms. Since it was gradual she didn't believe it was the pill at first. I believe her response was "Its not the pill that gets me angry, its you" followed closely by her throwing a champagne bottle at my head.

I am not sure if I have side-effects, I started taking the pill again 2-3 months ago.
The problem is, some of the side-effects could be caused by anything! I have some stressful things happening in my life right now, so it's hard to tell what causes what. Not that I have serious side-effects, just some moodswings etc.
I did have, the first month or so that my breasts hurt a bit. I had read in a magazine the '10 signs that tell you're pregnant' one of which was the breasts. So I freaked out, until my boyfriend who is much more sensible than I am, told me to check my pill-booklet. And that said that sensitive breasts was one of the main side-effects. So yay! No babies yet.
My doctor didn't tell me much about the pill I think, it was some years ago that I started, and then I stopped after a while. Now I just started again with the pills I had lying around.
But you get a nice little booklet with each pack of pills that tells you all the nasty side-effects, and also what you should do when you forget one, depending on how much time passed since you should have taken one and which week you are in.
