I just downloaded Justice League Unlimited episode 'Alive!' a few days ago, and... whoa.
I mean, this show was good all right, and I've started re-watching episodes as often as I rewatch Batman TAS (which I do often), but now, they started really upping the stakes...
Furman could have written this episode, as in the story, almost the half of the secret society is pretty much killed off. The showdown between Grodd and Lex Luthor is a classic, and the outcome ain't pretty. And afterwards, what Lex does to Tala... well this show truly show just how evil Lex is. A pity, I started to like Tala, especially after "The great brain robbery".
And the other reason I liked this episode - no heroes at all, I mean, they show up in the end, but no talking roles. JLU did develop a few villains, but by the very nature of the show, it's more about the superheroes then the villains. 'Alive!' reminded me of the good old Marvel Transformers comics, and how the Decepticons were as important players of the saga as the 'good guy' Autobots.
Of course, everybody could have forseen who the main villain will be, since there aren't many more godlike beings left unaccounted for in the show. I like Darkseid's new looks, pity about the voice - Micheal Ironside isn't bad, but I liked the old Superman TAS voice actor (who was he?) better.
So I'm really looking forward to the finale... then I'm going to rewatch the whole series...

Personally I think its kind of cool. It gives the audience a chance to get to random characters from the DC universe who are all kind of cool but nobody knew about.Obfleur wrote:I saw the first season of Justice League. It was awesome, cool, funny and awesome. I watched like three episodes a day.
Then I heard that in the second season the heros get "switched around" and that kind of put me off.
But; is the second season worth watching anyways?
The emphasis has switched a little more to character developement since they introduce new characters all the time and each one gets some kind of background.
Personally I think its a good idea, since how far can you really develop characters like Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman, etc... everyone is so familiar with them already you cant do much with them.

if you want to see some great Batman episodes, watch "Once and future thing" 1-2 (especially 2 for some Batman Beyond stuff), Shadow of the Hawk, Dead reckoning...
But, most importantly, Epilogue... it has lots of ties into as far back as the old Batman TAS (even movies) and Batman beyond.
JLU also gives some previously never animated heroes and villains great character development, like Huntress, Green Arrow, Question, Chronos, Grodd, Tala...
And if you liked Superman TAS, there are many good Superman (and even more Supergirl episodes). Better yet, the show has a 'kind-of' Power Girl, though she is wastly different then the one in the comics.

So, which one you like best?Obfleur wrote:I have not yet seen the complete Batman TAS
But it's on my "to do" list.
It seems awesome. Everybody loves it.
I have seen the Batman TAS movies though.
For me, it's Mask of the Phantasm - even though I'm a Mr. Freeze maniac, Subzero is too drawn-out.
if you've seen Mask of the Phantasm and the first few Batman beyond episodes, you'll like "Epiloge" (though it features many JLU references as well).

Actually, there were 5 - 2 seasons of 'old' Justice League (with 2-parter episodes, so one ep is 40 mins) and 3 seasons of Justice league Unlimited, which is ending now.
JLU's last season brought in some great characters, like Hawkman, Star and Stripe (the new team),another appearance by the Legion of Super-heroes, and some interesting villains like The General, Dr. Polaris, Shadow Thief (with a very cool origin story) and more.
Also many references were made, like to The Warlord or even to pre-WW2 heroes and even captain Nazi was had a 'cameo'.

I swing by from time to time and decided to rejoin as my name wasn't on the list anymore. I'm a big JLU fan, it's due to that show i even bothered to watch more STAS, BTAS and Batman Beyond. Great stuff!
I've seen JLU "Alive" and i eagerly await the conclusion in "Destroyer" the 18'th.
BB Shockwave, you wondered who did Darkseids voice in Superman TAS as you thought he was better? That WAS Michael Ironside sounding a lot better.

He was?
Funny, last time I said somewhere that the guy who voices Brainiac would be a great Shockwave voice - turned out it was Corey Burton, who did the really campy Shockwave voice acting in the G1 cartoon.
Some people evolve, some devolve, I guess... Or maybe it's the special sound effects? At any rate, Ironside sounded a lot better in STAS - dark, imposing... Here he's just average.

I know, it's already aired in the UK and up for download. Not as good as I hoped it'd be, but I still like it.wideload wrote:I think alive might not be the season finale.

Too bad it's over now, and all we have got left is "The Batman".
the episode was slightly above average id say. Seemed like Darkseid's forces went down a little too easy. Would have been cool if they'd made it a two part episode instead of just the one. There was good potential for some good story lines there.BB Shockwave wrote:I know, it's already aired in the UK and up for download. I think season 2 and 3 get even better. there is a over arching story in the 2nd, especially set in motion from the appearence of the Justice Lords (Alternative reality JL) which creates far reaching implications, makesa the Question a brilliantly cool character and produces the Flash's greatest moment in any incarnation.Obfleur wrote: I loved the first season.
