Not spiritus.
I really mean it; no alcohol
I was just wondering if anyone knows of any "spiritual" drinks (I don't know how to descibe it).
But lets say "if you mix apple and oranges, this will become a drink that the maya indians called "Bullaboo". It is said to help you relaxe".
Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?
Alternative topic: I have a mixer. I want to mix a bunch of fruits and make something that tastes great.
How will I get the thing "liquid"?
Have you ever made a drink this way? All help is appreciated.

At Beltaine ceremonies we used to drink mead (which is a kind of medieval alcoholic drink made from honey, I believe) and also strawberry vodka (which was basically strawberries kept in vodka for 6 months). Both were very effective in a "spiritual" way - they definitely made me feel more suggestible, happy and inclined to remove my clothes, which is what Beltaine is all about, really.
The mrs uses a blender, as far as I know you stick everything in and drink what comes out the other end...I don't think it gets more technical than that.

Hm, I just can't believe that an apple and a pear will get "liquid" enough so that you can drink itMetal Vendetta wrote: The mrs uses a blender, as far as I know you stick everything in and drink what comes out the other end...I don't think it gets more technical than that.
I hope I will prove me wrong though.

I think with "drier" fruits you need to add more fruit...It takes more apples to make apple juice than it does oranges to make orange juice, and lots more carrots to make carrot juice.Obfleur wrote:Hm, I just can't believe that an apple and a pear will get "liquid" enough so that you can drink it

Making fruit drinks is fun!
And you really get juice out of the fruit. Pears are quite juicy: if you put them in a blender/mixer you will get liquid. But you can always add some yoghurt (or orange juice) if it's too thick to drink, with banana for example.
One drink I liked to make: 1 pear, 1 banana, some yoghurt and a dash of cinnamon. Yum
I do have recipies, but they are in one of the boxes now that I am moving house, so I cannot reach them the next month. But there must be zillions of recipies on internet (if you type in 'smoothies' or something like that).
I don't know any spiritual drinks. The only thing I know is when I have a cold I squeeze a lemon (those yellow sour fruits) and add boling water and honey.
If you'd like you can put a bit of whiskey in too. Yum.

I don't drink whiskey but I do keep a miniature bottle put aside for this very reason.

Another thing: some teas have "powers" you were looking for
- peppermint tea is supposed to help digestion
- chamomille helps relax
- nettle (nässla) does something good but I forgot what
- ginseng gives you energy
And there are lots more.
A friend of mine had something called 'herbal extacy' but I'm not sure what it is. You can get it from those herbal shops.

Lapsang souchong... disregarding the rubbish dreamed up by tea traders about Sherlock Holmes, it's very pleasant.
And caffeine's psychoactive, of course.
