Battlestar Galactica

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Does anyone else watch this? I got the first season and I am insanely hooked. Reminds me of Firefly a bit.

Tis proper bo.

They admit being consciously influenced by Firefly visually. More work with handhelds, simulating that on CGI shots (zooms, etc).

The first episode of the miniseries, near the beginning, on Caprica - lots of ships flying about in the sky. One of them is Serenity. :)

The new BSG is seriously mint and that 3 parter with the pegasus and Admiral Caine in season 2 is superb, although should maybe have been a 4 parter as several things seemed rushed in the last Ressurection Ship part 2, nice to see what a couple of fully armed battle stars can do even if it was only for about 5 seconds.

Battlestar Galactica is great, and my love for Boomer knows no bounds.

If they'd just lift that piece of ominous music they used to play in the original series whenever they showed a Cylon Basestar and use it in this new series, then it'd be damm near perfect.

Ideally. It's essentially the first episodes of the series. You can probably get the gist of what's going on without it, but it'd be like starting Buffy at the beginning of season 2.

HMV have got it cheap in their sale atm, iirc.

[EDIT] - As do everywhere else.

That's a shame-- region 1 season 1 includes the mini.

Is S2 already out? I saw it on Amazon and couldn't find a release date. Of course I have been having some stupid days lately.

Only up past the 3rd regular ep so far. The Zerik coup. Brilliant stuff.

BSG is probably my fave program on TV at the moment, apart from Drawn Together. It is tense and compelling, and totally lacking in nerdy sci-fi elements, much like Firefly.

I've seen the miniseries, picked it up on a whim last year before i'd really heard about the series. Loved it straight away! Haven't seen anymore than that yet, but am planning on getting the season one set soon!

I love it - I like the special effects, and the grit of the story, and

I fancy Starbuck...

I love how they made the decision to switch Starbuck from male to female, and then cast an actress whose last name is pronounced 'sack-off'.

If it makes you feel better, she is a dangerous and eeeeevil Cylon (even if she doesn't know it)-you don't feel bad when you put bread in somebody else's toaster, do you?

Ooh, spoilerage. :o Well, spoilerage for Besters. I still remember the gutwrenching "noooooo" I let out at the end of the mini. That did breaked my heart, that did. :(

It's bad enough lusting after either of them now that I've decided I'm going to marry Annie Mac.

Ah, but which of the Boomers are you lusting after? Or which of the Number Sixes? Anybody could be a Cylon! I'm paranoid! MUST WATCH MORE!

In other news, I picked up Buffy s.3 for 27$ US used last night. I plan to have me a (ginger) beer and relive that one where Drusilla dumps Spike tonight.

Has anybody else thought, "Number Six is obviously a robot. How else could she be so incredibly sexy and weirdly mannish at the same time?"

It was probably just me.

In my other 'spoilered' post, I wasn't implying that Starbuck was a Cylon-sorry for any confusion.

I've thought "Number Six is obviously a robot"... but that's mainly due to the fact that Number Six is in fact a robot.

She doesn't really do much for me, tbh. Can see what others see in her, but it's just not my thang.

Subjective opinion.

Other people may find her sexy, and I can see why they would. Personally, tis not my thing.

Tall thin blondes have never really done much for me.

Now, Boomer, on the other hand...
