Now THIS I like!

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Cool, you can even dress him up as Darth Vader.

Dressing Jesus up as Darth Vader is making the very definition of alegory cry.

I disapprove of the attitude behind it, but damned if it isn't funny as hell to put Oscar the Grouch's face on him. :o

If there was a person or an ideal you respected, and people would continually would make fun of it, what would you say? Really, wonder why no-one does this with Mohammed. Oh, must be because then said person might gets torn to pieces by an angry mob if he lives in a muslim state... Or why no-one dares to make fun of the Queen in England. Maybe we vatholics should re-form the inquisiton. Then perhaps people would take us seriosuly again...

That said even as a catholic, this is as funny as hell.

I think, after fishing, ripping the piss of the Monarchy is actually the most popular pastime in Britain. :D

Islam does not permit idol-worship, and over the years nobody even remembers what Mohammed looked like.

Well sue me, I'm not english.

Most people round here in Hungary (journalists and such) always bring up the Queen of England as a an example when someone here ridicules something important.

Like once, when a liberal journalist compared our sacred crown to a workerman's hat (- it looks like this: http://www.magyarkorona.hu/images/crown3.jpg) other journalist said that say, if someone would put up a placard in England with the Queen having a beard and a caption "God shave the Queen" :) soon an angry mob would tore him to pieces.

I'm old enough to know journalist sometimes lie (heck, mostly all the time) but I really thought the Royalty is well-respected in the UK and any such acts against them are punishable by law.

Well there is still a fair bit of respect for the Royals, but not in all quarters. And such acts are probably technically treason and thus - in theory- punishable by law. In practice, though, such things would never get as far as a police caution.

After making fun of Jesus, making fun of the royal family is almost compulsory in this country.

Respect has to be earned. Prince Charles gets a modecum of respect from me for his opinions and campaigns, but not because he is the heir to the throne........

I dispair that there are still so many people prepared to metaphorically doff-their-cap to the royalty / aristocracy, for no reason other than "you've gotta 'ave respect". Sod that!

After Buddy Christ, DinoJesus, Burping Baby Jesus, Action Figure Jesus, Brian, South Park Jesus, Josh (Biff's Best Friend), and, well... the Mormons, I really fail to see how it's possible to 'push the envelope' with Jesus humor anymore.

That said, I thought it was funny.
