[SPOILERS FOR SEASON 5]
Can you even spoil a comedy show?
Well, last season Elliot started work at another hospital - and J.D got his own apartment.
Season 5 starts with the whole gang eating lunch at Sacred Heart, and J.D is temporarily living with Turk and Carla...?
So everything is like.. normal and stuff.
Oh well, I though the first three episodes were so so. But the fourth one was "oh my god it's so funny it actually hurts!"
Anyways, some dude told me that this probably is the last season of Scrubs. Does anyone know anything about this?

Can't believe I'm still here.

If there's an ongoing plot thread, yes.Obfleur wrote:[SPOILERS FOR SEASON 5]

Re: So... Scrubs?
But aren't most comedy shows really really really predictable?Brendocon wrote:If there's an ongoing plot thread, yes.Obfleur wrote:[SPOILERS FOR SEASON 5]

It's not like there's "I am your father!" or Kaiser Soze stuff in Scrubs, Seinfeld, etc.
Can't believe I'm still here.
Re: So... Scrubs?
Depends. And that's not really the issue - predictable or not, a spoiler's a spoiler. And some people might not want things ruined for them in advance. Half the fun of a plotline is watching it unfold without knowing what's happening.Obfleur wrote:But aren't most comedy shows really really really predictable?
That applies to comedy, too. Is a joke as funny if you already know the punchline?
Scrubs has spoiler potential. The season 3 episode where Ben comes back is an excellent example.
Somebody here might not have seen season 4 yet (for example, me) and not have known that Elliot left for another hospital at the end of it. (I did though being as I saw the last 4 eps of the season)
Grrr. Argh.
Jokes? No.
Plot? Yes.
Being told what is going to happen is a spoiler. Not everybody wants to know what is going to happen, as it kills the drama. It's not rocket science.
"Oh, it turns out that it's actually Ben who's died. But don't worry about knowing that - it doesn't make any of the jokes any less funny."
And I'm not fussed about the Elliot leaving thing. You asked if it's possible to give spoilers for a comedy. The answer is blatantly yes.

That's why I wrote "SPOILERS" in my first post.Best First wrote:that's not for you to judge really, is it?Obfleur wrote:Well, the Ben thing is equal to "I am your father!" IMO.
The Elliot thing, to me, is like saying "Darth Vader is gonna kill somebody".
Yes, it spoils the plot - but it's nothing big. It doesn't matter if you know it or not.

Well, I'm just saying that there's spoilers and spoilers.
To me the whole "oh lol Elliot gets a new job!!" is nothing more than reading the tv-guide. "In tonights episode Elliot gets a new job" or "Die Hard: A building is taken hostage! It's a good thing Bruce Willis, the cop, is there to save the day".
You know, small things that really doesn't matter.
What about your post here, and impys posts http://transfans.tfarchive3.com/phpBB2/ ... php?t=4696
Are they spoiling my fun?

Let's put an end to this silly spoiler discussion, and instead hold hands and fondle each other whilst Indiana is sad.
I am right, you are british (and have ****-loads of comedy series). Just face it

No you are wrong.Obfleur wrote: I am right
Comedy's can be spoilt. This is especially true of the best comedies (such as, IMO, Spaced & Scrubs) which are about the characters as well as the laughs and therefore involve an emotiuonal investment in what happens to those characters.
Therefore undue revelations about what happens to them can rob a viewer of the pleasure of seeing this revealed on screen.
if you are only watching scrubs for the yuks then you are missing half the show.
