If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Brilliant. I've not seen much of Peter Kaybefore but crimbo period watching of this and Phoienx Nights has been pure bliss.
Phoienx Nights was great, but Max and Paddy was utter genius. I was near in tears half the time. I'm now going to have to grab some of his standup.
Anybody else seen his standup stuff?
Is it good?

I don't really 'get' Phoenix Nights, or Max& Paddy.
And is it just me, or is nearly every presenter on TV & Radio northern??

Same here. It's a little weird-I like Peter Kaye, I'm just not a huge fan of his work. Well, unless we're counting the John Smith's adverts.

The humour in the John Smiths adverts is pretty much what you get from all of Peter Kay's stuff, I think. Its just all so well observed.

Saw "Peter Kay Live at the Manchester Arena" on DVD over christmas. I nearly pee'd myself.
And if you haven't seen it the series "That Peter Kay thing" is great as well. Its the forerunner to Phoenix nights and kinda set the style of what he did in that. All done as fake documentaries in a "The Office" type way.

Yeah, bizarrely it took me a while to get into pheonix nights, didn't quite click with me at first, but once it did... oh boy!
max and paddy... to my shame, i missed 90% of it when it was on tv, but what i did see, i loved!

I think PN is great.
Max and Paddy I found pretty devoid of laughs. Alright, chuckles here and there. Not great stuff though.
I find his stand up is very good.

PN never really worked for me either, I think Peter Kay is a bloody funny bloke, and in stand-up he kills me, but PN never did it for me on a whole.
Max and paddy had good moments tho.
I prefer things like, Jam, big train, peep show, brass eye etc...
oh and the fast show is still funny.
