If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

I was watching a Swedish/Danish movie tonight - Pelle the Conqueror - and I was wondering how it's viewed over there? Apparently it won an award at Cannes or something, my friend brought it over.

It won an oscar for "Best Foreign Language Film", and Max von Sydow was nominated for "Best Actor in a Leading Role".
And it also won at Cannes as you said (plus a bunch of other places).

I myself have never seen it though - and I've never really heard anyone talk about it :( (and I always watch the swedish programs where they review movies, etc)
Can't believe I'm still here.

Well it's quite long and pretty depressing, but a well made movie and MVS is really good in it. He's actually starting to look like his character in the Exorcist now.

I think it's a decent enough film. Very tragic as you say, so it's not quite my cup of tea. :o

Shows you that propaganda in any form is never to be trusted.
