Gah! My Ipod froze!

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

The bloody thing just froze. I've tried all the usual methods of fixing it and checked out Apple's website. Nothing works. Lame. This ever happen to anyone else?

What kind is yours Pops?

I got a Creative Zen off of eBay recently that freezes sometimes but I found that if you hold the play/pause button and reset it (stick a paperclip in the little "reset" hole) then let go of the play/pause button you get a little menu. Hit "clean disk" and then "reboot" and it works again.

This information was hidden so well on the Creative site it took me four days to find it. If I was Creative I'd have it on the front page in big flashing letters, but there you go.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Once my mp3 player started to show incoherent stuff/graphics in the menu (right after I updated the OS). I sent an E mail for help (which I never got an answer). So I formatted it (twice) and updated it again. After a few times it worked.

seriously I think they have a life of about 8-9 months of continous use and re-charge.

Have u seen the court case in america - 250'000+ ipod users report the same fault, Apple of europe does not officaly recognaise the problem as of yet because European ipods are different to USA ipods... erm yeah right.

I've known a few people who have had issues with them straight from the box, but never actually known anyone's who's battery died on them after a certain period of time.

A friend in the US has had his replaced 4 or 5 times due to faults while still under warranty. Consequently, he has a brand new iPod every few months.

People who buy them in the UK, I openly point and laugh.

Not really enough said. You go walking with your laptop tucked under your arm?

An mp3 player is a walkman-substitute, not a computer-substitute.

What you're saying is a bit like "why buy an oven when you have a fridge?"
Grrr. Argh.
