Let's see what's done to this book filmwise, then...

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Fairly readable article at Time's website - comes out pretty much in favour:

Warning - may contain spoilers and other animals (Lions, Minotaurs, etc).
I thought that was brilliant when I heard about it. I'm considering boycotting any new movie where some American is faking an English accent because of that.
Grrr. Argh.

Well, that quiets a couple of worries- did figure they'd cut out a lot of the early stuff, and a dance scene sounds lovely.

I thought it was funny that they cast Chinese actresses in the first place. "Oh, they're Asian and well-known, we'll use them!" Absolutely no sensitivity to the possibility that it may cause cultural snafus, or maybe a vague hope that it wouldn't... but really, they had to have known that someone would make a fuss about it at some point. At the same time I see the other side of it, and it's just... incredibly stupid. From my POV, anyway. They obviously don't think so.

People and their thought processes just make me not want to be one sometimes, I swear. I want to be an otter or something. Just float around on my back and eat crayfish all day. But then I wouldn't get to see the movie.

Unless you're Tarka. I should imagine he's managed to rack up a few quid over the years, and probably has some studio connections who could arrange a private screening or something.

Um...I didn't wanna take over saysadie's topic with this, so yeah, I'll be OK. She's coming over to talk in a bit, so if you hear raised voices, don't worry.

That does it! I'm never using irony again.

And, for the record, my kettle is white and my pots are silver. I've never understood that saying...
But then I wouldn't get to see the movie.

Chrissy says to knock it off, you two.

Seriously, I hope everything ends up shiny or at least somewhat polished.

And I'm excited for Narnia, because I always liked the books.
