Deep Impact is a ******* funny movie.
"Okey, there's a reporter trying to stick her nose in our super secret stuff. Go get her!"
The reporter is driving around in her blue crappy car.
Six black awesome cars suddenly surrounds her, and one of them even bumps in to her!
The girl stops, and is immideatly surrounded by like ten super agents.
Was all of that really necessary? Wouldn't it be enough with just one car? Or a phone call.

The bit where they pull away from the station on Private Iron with lemon Jelly's Staunton Lick playing over the top is one of the most beautiful things in the whole wide world.Brendocon wrote:"You think I'm unemotional, don't you? I can be emotional. Jesus, I cried like a child at the end of Terminator 2."
That and the pr0n monologue at the end of season one, which ring so very very true.
Other TV:
24 season 3 where Jack just starts crying
Buffy - Miss Calender's Death, Angel turning evil, The whole prom one, the end of season 3, Standing in your way/i'm under your spell reprise, Hush when Riley and Buffy come face to face, loads more and the whole damn final episode
Angel - Fred's death, and then Wesleys, The one where he becomes human and has to give it up, the faith episodes - "kill me" , "Let's go to work".
Serenity - Heart of Gold
BW - Code of Hero
**** it, as of tomorrow i am working my way back through Buffy and Angel again.
I can't stand chunks of that episode. Buffy makes me want to hit her. But that last bit where he suddenly cuts back and realises what's happened and basically tells her to leave... killer, killer moment.Best First wrote:The one where he becomes human and has to give it up
The ending of "You're Welcome". Great big chunks of "Not Fade Away" - Spike's poetry, Wes and Illyria discussing the 'perfect day' thing, Lorne/Lindsey, Eve's reaction ('go where?')... it's just superb.
I'm rewatching the whole lot at the mo already. First time since about March that I've touched it, but am having to fit it around the presence of my flatmate. She has a tendency to talk to me when she's about, which makes sitting and watching telly a bit tricky.
Firefly? The end of Safe ("You're on my crew. Why are we still talking about this?"), the end of The Message, the warm fuzzy feeling at the end of Objects in Space.
Pretty much everything that happens on Mr Universe's moon at the end of Serenity. "Screw this - I'm gonna live", Mal listening to Lenor, The Op's face as he realises the truth, Simon and River.
And the ******* thing isn't out on region 2 till February. R1's out before Christmas, dammit. Garh.
On the plus side, the lovely folks at Universal sent me a free Serenity "I aim to misbehave" t-shirt last week.
Grrr. Argh.

Yeah, I've got myself one o' dem already. I want to find out what the differences (if any) between the releases are first, though.Best First wrote:i can't wait that long, you can get multi region dvd magic boxes for about 30 quid these days...Brendocon wrote:

The monologue that was cut from the last episode of S2 is also really good and brings a lump to the throat (it's on the extras, I think). All about extending childhood as far as possible while avoiding responsibilitiesBest First wrote:That and the pr0n monologue at the end of season one, which ring so very very true
Currently trolling my way through Buffy S7. Awesome stuff. I'm liking it more now than when I first saw it, originally I thought it was a weaker series than S6, and I still think that but I've revised my opinion of both series upwards. S6 was superb, S7 not as good but still has those moments.Best First wrote:...**** it, as of tomorrow i am working my way back through Buffy and Angel again.
Why didn't they kill Dawn?
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Pretty much everything in season 7 is the direct result of stuff that happens in season 6.
Really enjoy s6, but not as much as the other seasons. It's got its own unique tone to it, which is good and I can see why people would think it better, but... eh. Points for intent, but the execution was off a lot of the time.

Yeah, sorry for bringing that one up. I think we can all agree that Buffy was a groundbreaking TV show and any season is going to have its low moments as well as its extremely high moments. I just prefer the darker tone of S6 is all. I liked Willow strung out on magic, Buffy sleeping with Spike and Xander all heartbroken. That episode that finishes with the Michelle Branch tune (Goodbye to you?) definitely ranks as one of my favourite Buffy moments ever. And I vastly prefer the Trio to the First.

or... lets not, its sufficiently on topic, you don't have to read it.Obfleur wrote:Alright, lets hold the Buffy discussion.
The thing i dislike about Season 6 mostis that there just isn't much hope - the charecters all get teh better of themselves ta the same time - especially i just don't buy Xander leaving Anya at the alter, it feels massively out of character to me. And i love Xander to little bits. In a man way. Rarr.
There's so much misery that its all a bit unfocussedand the moping detracts from the heroic qualities of the characters.
Agree about the MIchell Branch song bit though. Although i prefer the coach/Sarah Machlaghlan bit at the end of season 2, whcih i had momentraily forgotten about and is def one of the most moving moments.

Oh, definitely.Best First wrote:Agree about the MIchell Branch song bit though. Although i prefer the coach/Sarah Machlaghlan bit at the end of season 2, whcih i had momentraily forgotten about and is def one of the most moving moments.
And I agree Xander leaving Anya at the altar has a whiff of the dramatic imperative about it, but then again, it's realistic in the way that even the best-laid plans go skewiff at times. People do mess up sometimes.
Maybe I like S6 purely because there is so little hope. Kinda like the last three episodes of S5, also firm favourites. That kind of bleakness in essentially what is a kids' show really does it for me.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

I click in, and it's a buffy discussion. I feel odd and I don't know why.
And to add a comment that will be completely ignored in favour of Buffy convo: I watched "Pollyanna" the other night on PBS... never having seen/read it before, I was throughly enjoying the campiness, paleness and sunshiney happiness of it when all of a sudden, little Pollyanna gets hit by a motorcar.
I burst out laughing.
My brother was like, "You sick freak!" and then he was laughing, too... But, Gods, I'd been saying throughout the film that something was going to happen to her, it was just all too sunshiney and happy.
Does that count as sufficiently moving?
She lived obviously, and the ending was a "happy" one... but nothing topped that moment when she got hit by the car. I know it's not a funny thing, but in a film, especially a film like that... yes, dammit, yes! I was howling. And I still laugh when I think about it.

I'd forgotten about 'Timex' in the Fly II, but I'd have to agree with Rebis on that one. Same for Pops and the end of 'Shawshank'.
The whole 'Class Protector' bit, and Xander's speech to Dawn about how she's extraordinary get me as well, ditto for Fred and Wes getting offed too.
ALIAS season 1, where the Alliance find out that Sloane's wife Emily knows about them, tells him she has to die, he begs for her life to be spared because she'll shortly be dead of cancer, they agree and then the cancer goes into remission, and he's told he has to kill her.
I love ALIAS.
Ooh-and Scrubs. Especially the one where Dr Cox is 'seeing' Ben, and then then at the end: "Just where do you think we are?"

Hmm, maybe I should actually start watching Buffy. The whole 'vampires terrorise a small town" and the fact that all the episodes I have seen were pretty wanky didn't help in getting my attention, but seeing as how many people like it I should give it a try.
-Another touching moment I almost forgot - I first read TF the Movie as a sticker album. And, they only show Ironhide and Ratchet dying there, so I always wanted to believe that Prowl (my favourite Bot) somehow escaped. Imagine my grief when years later I watched the movie...
-Brasil - The ending when we see the 'escape' was only a dream... So sad and yet so real.
-Baron von Muntchausen - well, the 'death' of the Baron of course. As a kid I found the angel of Death incredibly scary, too.
-The Navigator - I dunno if anyone knows it, it's a very good New-Seelandian movie about how a small village avoids the plague with a sacrifice. The fact we know from the start that someone is going to die makes the tension very strong.

I agree with the Iron Giant and Return of the King moments.spiderfrommars wrote:Return of the Jedi - pan pipes!
Return of the King - "I can't carry it for you! But I can carry you!"
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - riding into the sunset!
Iron Giant - "You are who you choose to be!"
Cast Away - Wilson!
ET - need I say?
Also, I particularly enjoyed:
Watership Down
Big Wig: "My chief's told me to defend this run."
General Woundworth: "Your.......chief?"
Superman II
General Zod: "Uhhhhhh.....UHHHHHHHHHHH" as the re-energized Superman crushes the horrified Zod's hand
Also from Superman II
Superman: "Oh. I've been.....working out" as he responds to the shocked confused patrons of the bar after tossing that tug down the bar table after getting his powers back.
Jaws
Chief Brody: "Smile you son of a bitCH!" as he blows up Jaws
Lord of the Rings The Return of the King:
as mentioned above, and
King Aragorn: "My friends, you bow to no one." as he and all others bow to the Hobbits of the Shire
Terminator II:Judgement Day:
Terminator: "I know now why you cry. But it is something I can never do."
By the way. My name is Yaya. Just Yaya. Not Commander Yaya. Not Yayawave. Just......Yaya.

Btw, when he lifts up Zod theres a big BO patch under his arm. Tis true.
