Hats off to the SNES. (Ahead of it's time)

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Don't know where this one was released (Reminds me of a PS one)
This was released in America around the time the platform was 'dying'. The Sega Genesis had 3 different designs and after the 3rd one was announced, I beleive, Nintendo stepped up and redesigned their system just for the extra cash flow it might generate for the N64.

And I'm pretty sure that Sattalite thing only worked in Japan

Sony moved forward and developed the PSX from their work with Nintendo and Phillips got to release there own Mario game and 3 Zelda games on their machine from the fall out(A licence Ninty agreed in the team up). Nintendo on the other hand got stuck with the 64 and lost their almost iron fist grasp on the market.
Aye, it was a sad, sad day indeed. Each night that I go to sleep I pray to some higher force that the days of Ninty-rule will one day come to pass once more...

(granted, many of the N64 games are some of my favorite games of all time, but why oh why didn't they go with the cd-format?)

Someone edited my post! ??????

Mods? Any of you try to quote me and end up editing me instead?

I can understand if it was a bit picture heavy, removing the not so necessary pics. But I did check all the facts before I posted, so must've been an error if the text and pics went.
Impywhat?
Sorry dude I can't be bothered posting it all again. check Google for SNES CD, Satellaview and Nintendo Playstation. Those searches will find everything, if you want to find out what I was on about. :(

Yeah they had already pissed off Sony by contacting one of their sound guys to develope a sound chip, on Sony funds for the SNES. Sony only agreed to let that go because they could make some cash from it.

It was quite a detailed post (IMO anyway) about how the pissed off Sony, etc, etc. But alas it is dead now. I actually made an effort to post and it ends in ruin. oh well :D

If you want to see the pics Impy, I'll post 'em up later.

I've become quite addicted to Jade Empire at the moment :D

My fave console ever. I really regret selling it a few years ago. I had classics like Secret of Mana and Yoshi's Island....I can play the emulations on my PSP but it's not the same.

I hope Nintendo take the opportunity to make the rare snes games avaialble for download on Revolution. European gamers should not have to be denied a chance to play games like Chrono Cross. Mario RPG and Star Ocean again.

It would also be good if some of the more obscure Japanese titles could be made available. There is a lot of potential with the download system.

To quote myself.

Yes it is easy to get hold of the emulation, and in fairness, there are some good fan translations of rarer Japanese titles like Secret of Mana 2, and Star Ocean, but it would be very easy and cost effective now for companies to make more of the back catalogue available again.

Well it's illegal and porting games onto the PC means they are never as good. They just don't feel right somehow.

illegal? yes but freely available doesnt change the fact its there. its like downloading MP3's.

as for it being different on PC, no chance, emulation is 100% acurate via zsnes and I play mine with a PS2 pad.
