Mark, you've got nothing to worry about, mate.
You're a mature student with lots of real world experience. The others on your course would be stupid to ignore that.
All you'll have to worry about is fending off the hordes of students all wanting to be in your group for group assignments. Don't let anyone take advantage of your good nature, and let things happen as they happen.
Oh yeah, and don't spend half the night on TransFans, when you've got a 3,000 word essay (or other assignment of equivalent weighting) due in the next morning.

cheers for the support.
well its thursday now, so had a few days, what can I say - I feel old, is about it. I even had someone say to me today "how old are you?" ...im 27... "wow your ******* well old"
Not to mention 18-20 year olds are generally up thier own arses so much I cant stand it.
In short I worked very hard to get here, and now im really un-happy, I feel very lonely, out of touch and place, my confidence is rock bottom. im very deperessed
tom for a 'freshers' week thing were supposed to get up in front of 2 classes, about 60 ppl, and show of some design ****. to me thats a total horror, for others its a walk in the park. it wouldnt have bothered me at 20 either, but now, im just sensitive to **** like this. i dunno. im finding this very tough.

yes, listern to karl you will.
cos he's right. it is gonna take time to settle in, it's a change of routine and a new thing to get your head around.
and other people's attitudes towards you (or more specifically your age, by the sounds of it) is just a sign of their's. pay no notice (easier said then done, i know). when they realise what you're made of and who you are, then they'll get off your case about it.

It's way too early to worry mate. Stick at it. It'll be worth any early trials and tribulations.
I wasn't completely settled until about a month in. Thats when I pretty knew vaguely when and where I fit in. Before then I was really finding my feet.
Are you in halls/shared housing or still at home? The latter does mean that extra effort does need to be made I'm afraid.
