What religion/denomination are they meant to be, anyway?

I seriously thought that was a joke at first........
Not exactly wanting to foster tollerance and understanding, these 'Chick' people
If we use the cultural norms from hundreds of years ago we could paint most religions /races /cultures as barbarians or pervents by todays 'werstern' standards. Its not that long ago that many christians were getting rich from slave labour........
Yeah, when I realised it was serious i felt the same........
It occurs to me that the TF fanbase and Christendom have a lot in common, apart from TF fans have had more schisms in 20 years than christians have had in 2000! I'm firmly of the Orthodox church of marvel UK! Death to all non-beleivers

What the...! Does it really say in the Qu'ran (so that's how you really spell it, huh?) that Adam was 90 feet tall? Golly, he musta been the size of Omega Supreme! If not taller..
Hmm, hard to think what I think about this... These 'chick' people do come out a bit as dicks tho, don' they? The artist does a bloody annoying thing with the eyes of the kids too...

I love the way they slipped the dinosaurs in there as well, even though there is no evidence for it whatsoever
...but shouldn't this guy have a fatwah all over his ass? I can't remember what Rushdie said in the Satanic Verses (despite having been given a copy with the relevant bits underlined) but I doubt it was worse than calling the Holy Prophet Mohammed a paedophile...

If Ob had posted the link, your concerns would have been justified. As it was MV, you had a 50% chance of porn appearing.Eline wrote:I'm confused now.
In the Netherlands Chick is a magazine full of nude ladies, so I was hestistant to click this link at work... and then I was waiting for the pr0n in the comic to start...

I used to collect born-again Christian tracts when I was a Mormon missionary. The fun part was erasing the dialogue and rewriting them. They usually ended up either joining the Mormons or praying to pancakes.
Too bad I don't have any left. I could scan them in and we could have a competition. Of course, if anyone else handier with computer stuff than I could find a way...

"Ah well you see, their brand of made up monkey jizz is all complete and obvious lies. It stands up to no factual scrutiny *whatsoever*. Anyone who'd believe this is a fool of the highest order for having no common-sense or capacity for logical reasoning.
Our brand of made up monkey jizz, on the other hand, is entirely factual- and has been rigorously tested by Geoff from over the street..."

Everyone is convinced that they are the only ones who are Right.
*shrugs*
I highly suspect that that is all a lot of them have, if so they can have it. They'd probably be lost without it anyway.
Other people's beliefs, I don't care. They can have the beliefs they have. I would prefer understanding but that isn't going to happen, is it?
Nope! So whatever, eh? Life goes along.
(actually... I think I'd prefer eradication of most major religions. But that definitely ain't happening.)

I truly believe we would live in a world I would enjoy more if all religious people suddenly died. In fact, I feel a book coming on. Like Left Behind only from the other side's point of view.saysadie wrote: (actually... I think I'd prefer eradication of most major religions. But that definitely ain't happening.)

It's impossible to eliminate beliefs. People are much easier.saysadie wrote:with me it's less eradication of people, more eradication of the beliefs themselves. While some ideas within are worth keeping, for the most part the whole is more harm than good imo.

People can hold whatever beliefs they want, but crap like this is designed to indocrtinate children, masquerading as authority. It's obscene and it's disgusting. The one about the gays is particularly nasty...

keep the 'be nice to people' bits and get rid of the 'because if you don't you go to hell' bits.
replacing the later with, you now, rational thought.
That was absolutely reprehensible.
I've seen the website before, when I saw someone do a Cthulhu parody of one of their comics. The other strip I read made me angry, but at least it didn't spout this kind of racist ****.
Funny that it was intolerant bigots like this that made me leave Christianity in the first place.
