Vista x7 !

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Long as they all use the same drivers base I'll be happy.

Best Linux current version imo is SuSe- www.suse.com. They usually have it up at PC world for about £20.

Their security plans are mind-boggling, imo over complicated tho. I'm sure the pirates will have copies of this out and about before it even hits the shelves, like normal :)

the security seems pretty cool to me. but what I ment was like the current XP its hard to download updates as it checks your XP key against a database, much like online games do.

So in the future I ownt be able to patch my copy of windows anymore... ho-hum.

Their security precautions are incredibly powerful. Also mostly unnecessary imo if they built the OS properly from the start, which they were going to do with Vista but then gave up because it was too expensive.

I'm not a fan of their proposed media protection either, which could put a stop to some of your downloading shenanigans ;) put a stop to me downloading porn too :(

You might not have had it so much, but I've found a heck of a lot of the stuff I download now comes up as protected by licence and I have to pay to watch it!

Vista incorporates all that sort of stuff as standard, so we'll be seeing a heck of a lot more of it. Luckily MS scaled back from plans to let the OS actually decide what you can and can't do tho!

oh yes ive seen that stuff - but thats when u encode things and u add the passwords to the media file.

If the file is just a normal file i dont think that windows could distinguish whats a music a video and big boob action ?

I doubt Karl's been downloading much big boob action ;) but then again I've been downloading all sorts of movies and tunes and TV and stuff and the only things that give me licence grief are dodgy wma files, which I don't download any more anyway...
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!
