Owen to Newcastle

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

He wont be playing in Real Madrid - and Newcastle hasnt scored one single goal yet (right?).
SO what the hell, it's worth a shot.
And it's only a loan deal (or am I misinformed?).

EDIT: I just saw that he signed a four year deal with them
Wheres Liverpool in all of this?
Can't believe I'm still here.

bit steep but works on a few levels for Newcatsle, not only do they get a great player with a few years left in him but they also maintain the illusion that they are a 'big club'.

not sure its such a hot choice for Owen tho.

would have liked to see him at Utd or back at 'pool.

I really think if Ruud had started poorly this season Owen would be at Old Trafford, but he looks sharp so i guess its overkill with rooney ronaldo giggs smith, saha and perhaps even Ole Gunnar. Oh and not to mention the 18 year old Gussipe Rossi who also looks good...

Im worried that Newcastle is having problems, and it might rub off on to owen and leave him out of sorts for the world cup.

It will be interesting to see how things go.

Obviously the lure of European football at one of the Premiership's biggest clubs proved too much for him.

What?

Oh.

I think Liverpool are making a big mistake in not signing him. He is a proven goal scorer in the Premier League and you cannot say that about Morientes, Cisse or Crouch.

I really hope I will be proven wrong because if Liverpool have a bad season it will all be blamed at not signing Owen.

Whereas I personally attribute the run of form in the European Cup last season to the change in tactics caused by not basing everything around Owen.

Short version? I think Owen leaving 'Pool was the best thing that happened to them last summer.

(ooh) Crouchy (Crouchy, he used to be a Skate but he's alright now) is a quality player. Provided Rafa figures out how to use him properly. I think he didn't do anything at Villa because they treated him like Duncan Ferguson; whereas Liverpool's silky Spanish midfield may well be the best thing to provide him with proper ground service.

And I managed to get this post done without using the terms "good touch" or "big man."

What?

Bugger.
Grrr. Argh.

Good news for Newcastle but Owen's domestic career is likely to never be as promising as it once was. He has hit a dead end.

What surprises me is that none of the top 4 went for him. Arsenal could do with a non-Henry goalscorer, Liverpol have 3 strikers-non of when are regular goal scorers and Man Utd until the start of the season clearly had goal scoring problems.

On the other hand Liverpool did better without him. Prehap he's the sort of player with a style others have difficulty working with?

Well I think Arsenal and CHelski shouldhave snapped him up.

Utd have a shed load of strikers.

Michael Owen is ******* ace, simple as. Players like him just shouldn't be going to Newcastle.

I think he wouldn't work for Chelsea as they love having a yeti to hoof it to. Arsenal should defo have gone in, as should Liverpool. Woulda loved him at United purely for the England cause but they already have class strikers and would have have to have sold Ruud or some stupid **** like that.
