XBOX 360 UK pricing revealed

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Nice. Though I'll wait to see if there's more than 1 game that interests me before I drop down that kind of cash.

£200 or $299 i belive.

the launch line up is strong but like ALL new consoles, the bes titles are genrally 3rd genration.

saying that project gothem 3 and Gears of war are looking very strong - not to mention the obvious in Halo 3... who knows perfect dark zero is a lunch title, maybe it will surprise us all like goldeneye did and turn out to be good.

Other then that, the X360 serves as a very nice multimedia center with wireles conection to WIndows XP. this is one area where MS has Sony completely, the X360 interface and connection to Windows Xp via a shiny interface and gamer tags is very impresive.

Its a decent price for the big pack, but I bought an XBOX on launch day and was stung in the wallet for it. The price quickly fell.

None of the launch games look special enough to make me excited enough to buy on day of release. I shall wait and see what it brings...

Nothing actually excites me much in video gamming anymore, ive seen it it all now I think...

So going by the idea that ive seen everything, everything on the xbox360 looks better then the stuff I have now, so i guess its good.

Actually im really enjoying FEAR at the moment thats ******* awesome.

I'm more excited for the PS3. Song have a much better track record of making their machines have all the good **** regardless of the quality of the tech :afro:

Well ill own both as I always do, but im not sure where your getting your ideas from.

MS and Sony both have strong lines ups for XBOX and PS2, each one has a game to counter another hit title.
also many games now are multiformat, with the xbox version always looking better due to tech.

And to the future, Finnal Fantasy was a big hit for PS, but now thats go0ne multi your left with Tekken and Grand Tourismo? - its not much to shout about.

Now, what you have to look at is what else your system does, and its here where MS has sony beaten to a gooy pulp. basically because of Windows XP.
And thats going to be a big selling point.

Still Xbox is here in about 1 month, PS3 has a july release date.

So yes I fail to see how you can be 'more excited' based on what exatly?

both machines will most likely have the same games, bar a few (which if u can name them im interested) but MS has a better user interfaces, computer conection and media capacity.
the PS3 according to most developers now they have dev-kits isnt more powerfull either.

Apparently the PS3 is going to cost even more than the 360, but then again Bill Gates has deep pockets to cover the deficit on the hardware, but how long will he still be making a loss on every Xbox sold? Realisticly none of the 'next gen' titles have really impressed me too much.

-better graphics (sigh, whoopie)
-more enemies on screen (again sigh)
-realistic stubble on my games hero (you get the point...)

i'm bored with it all, and would just like to see something innovative on the market. I am just fed up of the same old, type of launch titles namely
fps
random sports game
a game shifted from the previous format
and a crap game meant for kids which would insult even a five year old (you know I mean you Universal Studios!!)

sorry rant over!

No i totaly agree, I think games consoles are reaching the end of thier inovative lives too.

the other problem is, as games become more expensive, dev teams and publishers are not willing to take as many risks on un-known concepts.

Still everynow and then some invoation breaks through, and ill wait in hope till it happens.

Untill then im still a graphics whore, and thee are still some titles out there that play well and look great.

I know that there are nice looking games that play well, but they are few and far between. Look at fifa or pro evo, very good games to play, but the innovation stopped about three games ago, should you really have to pay another £40 to obtain something that amounts to an update patch?

good example - they tweak the graphic engine and change the squad stats.

Im hoping all this extra power evolves so that my players interact with each other more like realsitcaly pulling shirts, and the pitch itself being torn up due to tackles.

Essentially all the lil things that add realism.

Also I wish they could invent some really decent commentary system.

I guess games have reached a plateu until new mechanisms come along.

I'm still waiting on virtual reality, sonic systems that influence your brain into 'feeling' whats happening in the game (including sensations of movement) and decent control systems that don't give you the fingers of an 80 year old ;)

S'why I like the new systems, lots of scope for that sort of realism level gubbins when it eventually trundles into view.

About the time PS1 came out, graphics had come so far that even when they get much better it's not a big deal. Alright, I get it. It looks even more real now. Are the games fun? Are they MORE fun?

Last game I paid full price for: Katamari Damacy. Graphics that could have been pulled off on the friggin' Sega Saturn but it's the most fun I've had playing a video game since, uh... Mario?

My thoughts exactle. Nothing on the Xbox really impressed me that much. Some games were good but very few were excellent. And the crossover games always seemed better on the PS2 for some reason.

Playability is where it's at. The Nintendo revolution, if it does download the entire nintendo inhouse liobary will be awesome. Emulation loses something in transaction.

I think Mark's trying to say that releasing all your previous software is not the same thing as making new software, and sort of defeats the object of a 'new' console (if emulation is the big seller, the system only need be as powerful as the most recent console you want to emulate).

When users are excited over the prospect of playing games that have been and gone years before you know there is a problem for the video game industry to face regarding its current output.

Then again, having said that, some may complain about the generic nature of most recent game genres- but how many times are they willing to make mario bounce around almost exactly the same map on system after system? I guess there are people just as interested in playing FPS on console after console. Personal taste has a lot of argument in it I think.

And M$ ist teh suxx0rz!!1

:D
