I just saw the movie (last time I saw it was last year).
I think it's great.
I don't think I thought of it much the first time I saw it, but there's really not much action if you compare it to other actionmovies (or am I just talking out of my arse?).
It's more storydriven than actiondriven (if you can say that in english), even though it has it's fair share of action.
Lovely movie.
How much of the X-movies are true to the comics/cartoon though?
1. I thought mutations were "one of a kind". Wolverine and Yuriko Oyama (?) has the same kind of mutation (Ultrahealing or whatever you call it).
2. Strykers son, and his relationship to Xavier, Did this happen in the comic?
3. Strykers and Wolverines relationship?
4. Pyro "switching sides"?

I like that movie much. It's better than first part, has more plot. The action scenes are cool, especially Nightcrawler vs. president's bodyguards.
Good thing is, that having so many characters to choose, we don't have 50 mutants running constantly on screen. Movie is focused on few of them, others are put as neat cameos. We have new main characters, but they kinda replace old ones from first movie, so we don't get to many of them.
I never heard why mutations should 'one of a kind', as you put it. There is more that one telepath in X-world, isn't it?Obfleur wrote:1. I thought mutations were "one of a kind". Wolverine and Yuriko Oyama (?) has the same kind of mutation (Ultrahealing or whatever you call it).
X-2 is based loosely on graphic novel entitled 'God Loves, Man Kills'. In that comic, William Stryker is a reverend, and a very popular TV preacher. He once had a wife, but after she gave birth to a mutant-child, he killed them both. Then decided that mutants are unholy creatures and should be eliminated in the name of high and mighty Lord yadda yadda...Obfleur wrote:2. There was no earlier relationship with Xavier, he met him during the story.
I don't think so.Obfleur wrote:3. Strykers and Wolverines relationship?"?
Pyro's first appearance was as an enemy of X-Men. I don't know about him ever being on good side. Not that I read that much X-Men comics.Obfleur wrote:4. Pyro "switching sides"?

And X2 made me Happy.
oooh, X-questions and I'm a comic geek.....it's like John Leslie and a room full of hookers.
1) Mutations are definetly not unique. There are several extremely common mutations (usually ones that are dramatically or thematically useful of course, like super-strength, endurance, telepathy or ugliness. Also, super-healing has been making a strong showing recently.) which I suppose is part of the whole supposed evolution theory.
2) No, as Ozz said. Also, Stryker's kid, Jason 143, is based upon the character of Jason Wyngarde AKA Mastermind, who had no familial relationship to the original Stryker and no relationship to Prof X, either.
3) Made up for the movie. However I believe a 'Stryker' character was introduced into the Wolverine comics after the movie. It may have been in Ultimate X-Men, I don't really know or care to be honest.
4) Pyro is a villlain and always has been. And he's also been dead for a few years as well. He did have a connection to Mystique's group when they were employed by the government, but I think he was off on the sidelines at that point.
I happen to like Cyclops, but understand why he gets a lot of stick. Probably the best portrayal of Cyclops is in New X-Men.
"Scott....you always were my favourite super-hero..."

The 'Stryker Character' in Ultimate X-Men was a rather unsavoury officer by the name of Col. John Wraith. The two have nothing in common aside from providing a face for the Weapon X program in their respective new continuities. In the Main Marvel Universe I don't belive there was ever one person identified as being the person behind Weapon X (or Weapon Plus by it's Morrison name), though there was a scientist who was in charge of the part of the program that gave Wolverine his bones.
