The obligatory, once a month "Odd Ebay auctions" t

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Damn title was too long. hread. there.

Letters/gifts from a "thought she was the one" ex-girlfriend

People are strange, y'know?

imo what he needs to do is simply chuck those things into the bin/fireplace...

That's a bit of a downer, actually, so I dug this out.

These people want you to name their child
Name must not be offensive in any way as parents have the right of first refusal
Doesn't make this any less odd...

That is sheer genius!

"Give us money for the right to do something! I reserve the right to ignore your right to do this and do what I want anyway."
Grrr. Argh.

People won't pay more than $10 for the relationship stuff, but they'll pay over $100 to name a baby? Craziness.

Crazy because at the very least, a Homer Simpson doll, a Sombrero keychain, a bendable scuba figure, and kindling for a fire are worth more than $10.

Crazy because you KNOW the person who wins the baby auction doesn't have anything close to good intentions.

"Hmmm, baby I don't know from parents I don't know? His name shall be JULIUS....ORANGE JULIUS...And I will pay ONE MILLION DOLLARS!!!" Mwhahahahahahaha!!!!!

I'm tempted by the letters stuff. My ex and I never sent notes or letters (as far as I can remember) - it tended to be texts and (dirty) phonecalls. It might be interesting to know what I missed out on.

Actually, no, I don't think so - I may be odd, but not THAT odd.
Personally, I think it's a huge betrayal of his ex-girlfriend, and she's well shot of him.
And he says it's legal - is it not some kind kind of invasion of her privacy (in some kind of indirect way)?

He's a tw*t.

God, I'm so alone... :(

And can I name the baby 'Autobloke'?

If there were addresses, you could perhaps bring a suit for harassment. Pretty sure letters are the property of the recipient though.

Yeah, but I can't imagine anyone thinks of this as acceptable though.

Hmm... one bid. Did he bid for himself to make it look like someone was actually interested, in the hope of getting it going?
It wasn't ME, by the way.

I sure as hell wouldn't want those. It strikes me as slightly creepy. :o

I think this is awesome, though.

That fat cat thing is just WRONG though.
I've got a giant snail ornament in my garden.
