A thread I have diabolically created simply to say that "The Last Starfighter" was a pretty cool movie, as I recall.

Yes he does, and yes it was. Nice work by Lou Gosset Jr. on that one.
But I must say, for Draconians, they sure weren't very draconian.

I remember that flick. Eh, s'alright. Preferably I'd go with...Shanti418 wrote:..."The Last Starfighter" was a pretty cool movie, as I recall.
...and Spaceballs of course.Obfleur wrote:
Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.
The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

Well, yeah, you can't really compare The Last Starfighter with Aliens.
That's like comparing Space Camp with Apollo 13. Or Starman with Alien Nation.

I think we can put Battle Beyond the Stars in the same bracket:

I'm going off on a bit of a wild tangent, but i'm going to say Gremloids (or "Hyperspace" as it was apparently called in the US)... low budget, poor quality spoof, but i like it.

Anyone remember a movie called LifeForce? There was this naked female alien sex vampire thing in it. Mmmmm.

Another vote for Aliens though.

Yes, I DO remember the movie "Lifeforce" That movie freaked me out as a kid.
The scene I remember most was two or three long haired brunette naked woman steadily walking on these security officers, and the officers shoot at them, and nothing comes out of them except for some ketchup, and then just keep on walking.
Howard the Duck DOES count.

Yes! That movie is excellent! I still quote that film now:Legion wrote:I'm going off on a bit of a wild tangent, but i'm going to say Gremloids (or "Hyperspace" as it was apparently called in the US)... low budget, poor quality spoof, but i like it.

Buckethead: "Seize the fritters!" (whenever I want something)
or:
"Deathray's fixed" (used to say that things are going well or working)
or:
"You're standing on my foot. My FOOT!" (just when people annoy me).
And many more.
The shopping trolley speederbike sequence is cheesy but brilliant too.
I must buy Explorers now as well.
This is great - it's like all my favourite 80s movies recalled.

These aren't necessarily space movies, but War Games and Red Dawn were certainly great Cold War Apocalypse movies.
