I think we can put Battle Beyond the Stars in the same bracket:

There's another reference. In the scene where Yogurt is showing off all the Spaceballs merchandise, a couple of the items are vintage G1 products slightly edited. Resolution wasn't perfect, but you can make out a G1 Lunchbox and one that looks like it might be a coloring book with prime running on the cover.Autobloke wrote:Well, yes - he says it's a Transformer.Obfleur wrote:What Transformers reference? And Short Circuit is a fantastic fillum - and the sequel wasn't too bad either.
As for my favorite, Aliens of course.
Game over man, Game over!
Aliens pwnz all.
Apparently you can get a motion tracker like in the movie, that has the moving graphics on the screen and makes the same noises...but I belive it's over 300 squid.
If I had one of those I'd never put it down. Or shut up. "Movement! Four metres."
"It's just the postman, dear."
"Can't be, that's inside the room!"
But most of the films mentioned so far have merits, and are at least enjoyable to watch.
I'd like to see Short Circuit again, actually...I was listening to some DJ Yoda 80's theme mix the other day and the 'Johnny Five is alive!' thing came outta leftfield somewhat. Had forgotten all about that.
I was big into Explorers for some reason. I think I like the Wurlitzer spaceship.
And Howard the Duck ruled. Evil Overlords, baby.

What about 2010? What's the best Star Trek movie out of the 80s? What did everyone think about "V"?

V Sucked. Personally, I think Search for Spock was the best one, at least until VI came out, what was it, '91?Shanti418 wrote:What's the best Star Trek movie out of the 80s? What did everyone think about "V"?

Yay!spiderfrommars wrote:Flight of the Navigator - I remember seeing TF toys when Sarah Jessica Parker gives the kid those presents.
The TFs part - not SJP.
Wasn't Short Circuit on telly recently?
I quite like 'V' - but why didn't the reptile aliens like light? Surely reptiles love that sunshine stuff.
I think all of the Star Trek movies were quite poor. The least-poorest were probably 2 and 4 though.

That movie DEFINETLY blows "Cocoon" out of the water for "Best Space Movie Simultaneously Involving Aliens and Old People."
