Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.
The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

I wouldn't worry about it too much really. Were you to post something like, "Hey, you, yeah the guy/girl in [insert state, province, and/or city here] sitting doing nothing with your life, go [insert means of self-inflicted death here]." and they did it, well, there's some serious mental illness in there.Autobloke wrote:I just don't want to get the blame.

Suicide's illegal in the States as well. Think about that for a second. According to the law, you're better off being so miserable that you can't stand to live anymore than to die. Think about that and you'll be able to understand where some of these pro-life anti-stem cell people are coming from.
Am I the only one that thinks that human life isn't all that important?

Abortion is unpleasant but often necessary. I'd rather see quailty over quantity of life. I don't really know enough about stem cells to make the call on that but if it's working then I think it should be investigated.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

on a broard scale theres a chance the next human life is Einstien or Motzart Gandi or somthing, the ndividuals help shape how we see ourselves and humanity as a whole.
On a smaller scale its harder to see ourselves as nothing but parasites living off the earth.
Its hard to answer that without being emotional.

Human life is important to other humans because we're all scared of our own mortality and the mortality of those close to us.
Still though, we can feel sorry for losses of life (a mother and her four year old daughter were shot to death in their homes by the daughter's father last night), or we can gloss them over and think over them as "necessary costs" (18 Iraqis were killed in heavy bombing last night).
IMO, I think there's an outside chance self conscious intelligence is an evolutionary anomaly and/or mistake.

Considering that every single human being that has ever lived, is alive now, and will ever be alive will all eventually die, I fail to see any evidence that individual people are important.

I'd have to say it's some wishful thinking. No offense.Nebbie wrote:I would like to think that human life is important and that we're here for a purpose. But maybe that's just wishful thinking.

If nothing more, so as I don't attempt to speak for all people and imply the way they should think, my life is important to me. I'm having fun here. My wife's life, and the life of my son, **** the lives of all my friends and family in my little slice of Texas (as well as Mexico now) and online (*sniff* you guys are the best) are important and matter to me. What's wrong with that? What's wrong with caring for someone, even if it's no other than yourself?

Well, for one thing, it can leave you vulnerable. Those people will eventually hurt you or be hurt themselves (which will hurt you as you care about them.)Señior's Covenant wrote:If nothing more, so as I don't attempt to speak for all people and imply the way they should think, my life is important to me. Aside from that, nothing's wrong with caring for people. The problem comes in when some of the "people" you care for are theoretically alive blobs of cells in someone-else' body.

Eh, I don't mind being vulnerable to some. **** happens. I deal with it.Professor Smooth wrote:Well, for one thing, it can leave you vulnerable. Those people will eventually hurt you or be hurt themselves (which will hurt you as you care about them.)
Speaking of ****, I gotta start sneaking out of the office now if I'm going to bail five minutes early (it so helps on traffic it's unbelievable).
Hasta luego!
