Here we go, again, with some 'leaked specs' for the Nintendo rev:
Well.. I hope it's got the power similar to that. If it does, all 3 three new platforms seems to be getting a very similar power-level if I'm not out of my head? Maybe Nintys innovations might give it something extra compared to it's competitors then, no?"New Nintendo Revolution specs?
Posted on Sat 24 Sep 2005, 10:50 AM
So apparently this dude who works at Factor 5 (they’ve done some Star Wars games) who goes by Han Solo has some supposedly leaked specs of the Revolution, which if they’re real might give the box a bit more of a fighting chance than we’d originally anticipated. Keep in mind this is the same person, we understand, who leaked some nearly dead on specs of the Xbox 360 before it was announced. Now, we could do a whole long article giving a prospective in-depth analysis on whose specs trump whose between the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and these rumored Revolution specs, but we’ll just give you what Han Solo says it should feature:
a multithreaded PowerPC 2.5 GHz with 256 KB L1 cache and 1 MB of L2 cache
(diff from the dual-core 1.8GHz CPU with 512KB L2 cache we heard about before),
a Physical Processing Chip (PPU) with 32MB of dedicated RAM, 512MB of system RAM (we heard it would have 256MB of main DRAM before),
a custom ATI “RN520” 600MHz CPU with 256MB of RAM (that’s about what we’d heard, but 128MB of RAM).
Apparently the device will support external resolutions up to 2048 x 1268 though HD support is still as yet undecided, and it will have 7.1 surround, too. Doesn’t sound too shabby, but as always get your grain of salt on."

Ninty has spilled a small tidbit about their new machines capabilities, or rather, they've made a small claim:
You... lucky basts! There's going to be set up wi-fi points for the DS in europe, and no doubt most of them in the big countries, wich means the UK! Wich means that Karlos will be able to sit merrily on the tube, and pick up his DS and think:" Methinks am gonna drive som' Mario sh*te with teh Hound" and play Mariokart with him! Then he'll shuckle: "An' Preds CAN'T come! "Jim Merrick Talks Mario Kart Ds, Revolution
Posted on Mon 31 Oct 2005, 11:26 PM
Initially speaking about Nintendo's wi-fi service, Merrick laid bare Nintendo's plans to set up 25,000 wireless hotspots throughout Europe, empowering gamers to run free through the city streets whilst partaking in a heated game of Mario Kart DS.
Some rare Revolution details were also offered in the interview, such as reaffirming that graphically a "difference will not exist" between the console and its competitors. According to Merrick, Nintendo hopes to launch Revolution in all territories within a 14 week period.
Merrick additionally had good news regarding Revolution's retro download service. Apparently, old titles will have improved frame rates, while being available to users from any region, so Europeans can finally enjoy overseas-only titles such as Nintendo's Sin & Punishment, without any import related mischief.
Unfortunately, we cannot expect to be wowed by any Revolution titles this side of Christmas. "We want to wait until everything is ready, and when we show the Revolution's titles for the first time, they will be playable with the final system," said Merrick. "Miyamoto doesn't like to show incomplete games".
i'm kinda intrigued with the Revolution, I haven't played a game for ages that I instantly thought, wow! I think that by going through this route Nintendo might actually be doing itself a favour. I don't want a Xbox 360, I may want a PS3, but I know I want a Revolution. Something different. something that all my mates can play with me and be fun, there is only so much pro evo you can take after 3 years! I like the less buttons, I am currently playing Transformers on PS2, and I am stumped with the amount of buttons do different things and the lack of a lock on target, and i'm not a game virgin i've been playing games for about 18 years!
I want the nintendo difference. I am willing to wait for that difference, because as long as they continue making different games I want a nintendo machine!

Nintendo never should have said ANYTHING about their download-service!
On the other hand, they have to show how their system is cool... I guess this is a dilemma for any developer of anything really.

I guess. My rant was mostly about the inoriginality. I feel that this happens often when Nintendo does something new. The rumble-function is another thing that comes to mind.
The almost pure cloneage of game-style after Mario 64 had been released. A lot of games that were similar came out aftwerwards, by other companies, for the PS mostly, and most of them were sh*te.

Head-bulletin rumours!
Sega, is going to take their back-catalogue to the Ninty Revo!!
It would appear as if the works behind Genesis & Mega Drive is pretty much done! And other consoles may be in the works...
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=15682
Officially, Nintendo spokesperson Reggie Fils-aime has stated that Sega is "very intrigued" by Nintendo's Virtual Console-service.
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=15650
Also found this bit, from when Ninty had a bunch of gaming big-wigs sing some praise over the Revo, rather interesting:
Bill Petro
Senior VP of Product Development, Sega of America
"Role-playing games will be greatly enhanced, due to new control styles. Pointing will make moving in large environments very simple, and twist- and position-senging will allow for dual weapon wielding or gesture-based spell-casting."
Impy... dude...

Its also said that due to MAME, most manufactureres are already following Midways direction and will release thier arcade games to Xbox live.
so i guess what your looking at is all the MAME games slowly going to xbox live. personaly, like many say, they are a distraction, I really dont think many games stand the test of the time to be honest.
SNES and MD games that might?
Mario,Zelda link to the past. Sonic, streets of rage 2?
Ive played alot of games on emulation, and only a few had me hooked for more then an hour at best. so I still think its a gimmick to be honest.
Magic gesturing like Black and White, and Darwin sounds cool tho dont it?
Its not like I wont own a Rev, ill own a PS3 and a 360 as soon as I can get my bloody hands on one. what I think more interesting is that the Rev, because it offers somthing different will most likely be most ppls 2nd choice console.
So instead of it being a PS2 and Xbox as it is now.
It will be a X360/PS3 and Rev
So maybe they will find a niche to operate in.

As ussual it's a good idea to take it in with some skepticism, but it looks interesting.

OMFG! OMFGXoRRz!
Oh my... Inside Game Informer or a mag called something like that, has just published a sneak peak (apparently this mag is only for industry proffessionals and developers) of one of the games for the Revolution!
Red Steel. Features Katana/gun action with blocking and disabling the enemy by using them in swift tandem.
Have a looksee lads.
http://www.endangeredgamer.blogspot.com/
Ubisoft is the developer apparently.

edit - hangover.
My friend wrote this.
The shots ar to fuzzy to make out how good the graphics are.
I fail to see why ppl get excited tho, its another urban shooter, which you can get on any console, do ppl want to play yet another urban shooter just on a nintendo or do they want to play somthing new like Nintnendo touted?

Um.. Impy, you're wording is a bit fuzzy.
But, I was surprised to see this graphics myself, it really does look very similar to the early games for Xbox 360.
So, what do you think about the latest specs that was "leaked" to IGN? That put it slightly ahead of the original Xbox? Surely the architecture must be above and beyond for it to use those specs to do this?
{blocks Impys bullets with sword, rolls behind a table and reloads with one single movement of a light twist of the wrist}

First in-game screenshot from the Revolution.
Red Steel by Ubisoft. An FPS with a samurai theme. As well as shooting people, you can use the Rev controller to swing your sword on screen.
Looks pretty

That's not at all the impression I have gotten, most seem to be pleasantly surprised that the graphics is better than expected, and that their will be 'non-kiddy' titles out of the gate.
Also, we all know that the first games that will show the way of what can be done with the Revo will be Nintys own first-party titles, and Ninty is determined to keep those nuggets under wraps until E3.
I'm convinced that during E3 we will see the internet break into the dreaded half. ^^ Luv' or pure hate? You decide.

I'm looking forward to it, I hope ninty make a success of this console cuz the ideas behind it are just really refreshing and different. Cuz i'm such a loner a lot of the time I end up playing multiplayer games with the missus and she's pretty much useless at all games, except Donkey Konga, thats where I think i'l love the rev, games where we both can have fun playing

On a related note, there's a huge amount of concern over the PS3. It's shipping late, a long time after its main competitor, has virtually zero games companies signed up, is going to cost an utter fortune and has {possibly} thrown its lot in with the losing side in the DVD format contest [since some of the huge studios have embrased HDDVD although some major manufacturers have endorsed Bluray]. Since Sony are in such disastrous business shape, the word from FT, the business sections of The Times and ZDNet seems to be that they're gambling it all on the PS3 being a hit. If that fails they will be in some major troubles.
All compared to Microsoft who are in a very strong position with a console they can sell at a loss to make it cheap, many games companies involved, a huge back-array of Windows PC compatibility specifications and shipped before anybody else in time for both 2005 and 2006 Christmases. About the only aces sony have over MS appears to be their back catalogue of games and a high-spec machine (although direct comparisons are difficult).
Boo-urns to Nintendo. I appreciate they seem to have gone in for the games console as a toy or minor distraction rather than as a serious piece of hardware (which is a viable niche if you keep your costs low), but personally I've zero interest in yet another repackage of their pet titles; much less being able to control them with a 3D sensitive TV-remote. I'd much rather see somebody come up with something new in terms of a way of manipulating the game (rather than the same manipulation executed with a different piece of kit as with the ninty controller) or ways of displaying it (whatever happened to VR??). If I want 3D control I'll just buy a gyromouse, it's slightly more ergonomic for a start.
New interfaces should have more to do with HCI research than they do with gadgets like the Ninty controller imo.
