POLL: What's the Best Animated Series Out There?

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

POLL: What's the Best Animated Series Out There?

Post by Shanti418 » Tue May 03, 2005 12:45 am

With the new Family Guys and my South Park love, I thought I'd see exactly where we all stand.

Vote for which show you think is the funniest RIGHT NOW.

Yeah, I think everyone would have to agree that right now, of all time would have to be The Simpsons. No one can match its unprecedented logevity, reinventions, and contribution to the cultural zeitgeist.

Love pretty much all of the above, but South Park gets my vote for always managing to shock.

I miss Futurama :(

South Park all the way.
The last couple of seasons of The Simpsons has really ruined it for me. I think they're awful.
Can't believe I'm still here.

I miss Futurama as well.

Seeing how similar Family Guy and American Dad are (even thought AD is still young), it's all the more a testament to Matt Groening's genius that Futurama and the Simpsons were so distinct.

God, The Devil and Bob. Pure genius.
And Megas XLR.
How about Robotix: The Movie? I quite liked that too (snigger).

If I had to choose from your list though:

South Park. (even though the last lot of eps were a bit iffy).

And I miss Futurama also. "Good news everybody..." etc.

I could give ya a good site for SP episodes, but they're torrent related, and Big Best Brother doesn't like that. He doesn't like it at all. Big Best Brother gets real mad at me when I do bad things.

It's Family Guy. Most of the rest are good, cept the Simpsons these days. They'd do better to replace it with Futurama.

Simpson's. best of all time but not of the last few years. It also paved the way for most of the above options to be created.

I don't think the Simpsons have been that bad lately. They've definitely fallen in regards to previous quality standards, but I still think they're better than most of what passes for 'comedy' on television.

Simpsons. No-one has ever picked up on the colour error with the character's skin. You'd think after all this time they'd notice the mistake and correct it.

Compare recent eps to Black Books or Spaced and it loses hands down imo. ^_^

South Park all the way, for appearing never to have given a **** who they have offended throughout its entire run. If all TV was like South Park I would be happy. Simpsons is great and has some amazing characters, situations etc. but plays it all way too safe.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Hey, Family Guy isn't exactly made for children of all ages itself. Probably why it keeps getting canceled.

Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.

The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

........I haven't heard of either of those, but I'll take your word for it. Are they BBC? If so, I should amend my statement to 'what passes for comedy on American television'.

I've downloaded Blood and Fever to take to the US on my jaunt there, so I can introduce the poor savages to the true ways of comedy ^_~

Manny: Is space hot?
Bernard: Of course it is, where do you think we get pineapples from?

Fran: Do you know that in Tibet when they want something they give something away?
Bernard: Do they? That must be why they're such a dominant global power.

Manny: I want the weekend off. I want a life.
Bernard: This is life! We suffer and slave and expire. That's it!
Manny: We have needs! Fran wants to learn the piano, I want some time to myself, you want to go out with a girl...
Bernard: Don't make me laugh... bitterly. Fran will fail, you'll toil your life away, and I'll die alone, upside down on the floor of a pub toilet.

Fran: (talking to Bernard about about him and Manny) You know, if the two of you could do something relaxing together, this place wouldn't be so tense.
Bernard: What? Every time we bicker we should have sex? Just have a drink and be yourself again, will you?
Fran: So what's it like then? The fags and booze.
Bernard: Well, to be honest, after years of smoking and drinking, you do sometimes look at yourself and think...
Fran: Yep...
Bernard: You know, just sometimes, in between the first cigarette with coffee in the morning to that four hundredth glass of cornershop piss at 3am, you do sometimes look at yourself and think...
Fran: Yep...
Bernard: ... "this is fantastic. I'm in heaven."

How can you not love this? Comedy at it`s finest.
