Lets see: I bought myself a:
P IV 3.0 ghz intel
MB 865 Perl
512 DDR (2 of 256)
HD 80gb
video card 128 mb
OS Windows xp Service Pack 2
In the first week of use I kept having trouble in different moments (not with any given program or application). The Pc re starts itself and shows a "fatal error ocurred". I formatted the Hd and so far everything is all right. I ve been told that the antivirus I had may had been the source of the trouble causing conflict with the OS causing the automatic restart. Is this really possible?
I know Xp has an option which enables the restart of the pc if an OS error is detected. Is it wise to uncheck it?
Can anybody recommend a good free downloadable antivirus?
A Playstation Emulator for XP?
Thx in advance!

If you uncheck the auto-restart, then when the pc crashes, you'll be able to note down any info that the blue screen shows you, such as the device driver that it believes caused the crash.
Once you've got that, you'll be able to track down where the driver is situated, and what it is probably connected with.
Then you'll be able to tell if it's your antivirus software, or any number of other causes.
