There are people who'd perform a lynching for the mere suggestion that the Pistols were proper punk...
And people who call me "Brendy" (with a few notable exceptions) receive none of my patience. So don't, else I won't hold my self responsible.
But still what? You've read the egocentric ramblings of a deluded netizen who has some strange obsession about me despite knowing very little about who I am? Well in that case you may as well be my biographer.Young Rocker wrote:Oh I've read about you Brendy...well...only the Fanfic equivalent of you but still...

The Sex Pistols invented punk? Riiiight.
Putting aside my hatred of genre categorisation for a few moments...
The term "punk rock" was in use as early as 1971 and was used to describe bands like the New York Dolls, the Modern Lovers, MC5 and the Velvet Underground.
All of whom influenced Malcom McLaren in putting together the Sex Pistols.
There was even a magazine called "Punk" that was devoted to the Dictators, who formed in 1973.
The Ramones were being called punk when they were performing in 1974. Are you going to tell me the Ramones weren't punk?
The Sex Pistols may have taken punk into the mainstream in Britain, but saying that they invented it is ludicrous.
And The Clash piss on the Sex Pistols.

Look, I did not start an argument here, so thanks for showing an obvious hatred for newcomers Brendocon. I don't think I'm going to waste my time - and so you know, for a while my punk knowledge hasn't gone past the Pistols. And as far as I care, the Ramones and the Clash and whatever can do what they want, I will be a fan of what I want and the Clash only beat the Pistols in your opinion, and I respect your feelings on that. As for me, I prefer the Pistols anyday.
Now, I believe this little debate of ours has been resolved. I've seen way too many boards go to Hell over arguments when really, in cases such as these there is now winner, opinions are opinions.
Thanks to all those who were at least friendly to a newcomer. I am actually working on the TF theme rewrite as we speak.

*pokes Brendy*
And spot on history lesson, glad someone got to it. I'd also like to point out that the Ramones, like it or not, were one of the main inspirations behind such bands as the Sex Pistols, The Clash and the Damned. If memory serves me, the Ramones played in front of the future members of afore mentioned bands in the summer of 75.....maybe 76? Can't remember exactly.
Just a little smidge of knowledge fors ya!
Oh and new guy. Pipe down. Booooo!!!

Your excuse is ignorance? Oy...Young Rocker wrote:for a while my punk knowledge hasn't gone past the Pistols.
I'm of the same mind as you, really- like what you like, do whatcher do[within reason-s'gooder long as no one loses an eye or something], to hell with what people think. Buuuut... sorry dude. I had a good chuckle at that.
Not that I'm trying to start an argument. I just found the above funny.
No, it's a hatred for people who throw about bollocks and try to pass it off as fact.Young Rocker wrote:so thanks for showing an obvious hatred for newcomers Brendocon.
So don't throw about assertions on the subject without expecting to be smacked down on it, then. It's a very simple rule for getting by in intelligent society.my punk knowledge hasn't gone past the Pistols.
I've nothing against you, just against people who attempt to pass off rubbish as fact.
*is ready to move on*

This must be some sorta new record here, Brendocon is always prepared...
Welcome to the board rocker! I think you'll mostly like it here, tho there might be some fights or arguments here at times, the general population is quite friendly and want to live in peace & harmony. (hmm, I suppose a punker might indeed have trouble fitting in then.. Oh well, god save the queen! )

Schh! Listen, this is a well guarded secret here on Transfans...but Brendocon hasn't acctually ever killed anyone for that, at least not personally, but there have been reports of.....other things.Brendocon wrote: And people who call me "Brendy" (with a few notable exceptions) receive none of my patience. There was the incident where someone called him Brenda by accident... that had some humourous merit to it.Predabot wrote:Listen, this is a well guarded secret here on Transfans...but Brendocon hasn't acctually ever killed anyone for that, at least not personally, but there have been reports of.....other things.

I used to think the Pistols were the first until a few months back when I get into the music hardcore. I think I'm gonna have some reeeeeaaaaal fun here. Heh heh heh.
Oh, and if anyone wants to see, I added my rewrite to my song thread.
