Water scared the absolute crap out of me in school (which is a terrible place to try and learn to swim when people just want to mess about). I left there with no swimming skills at all, which has always bugged me.
After fourteen years of not being in a pool, I joined the gym - which has one. I paid for it, so I'm damn-well going to use it.
I was nervous after so much time on dry land, but left to my own devices, and due to the fact the pool doesn't have a deep end (phew!), I can now swim on my back, on my side (!?!), and doggy paddle on my front. So, within a month, I taught myself more than in all those years of school swimming lessons. Tch!
Anyway, my mum decided to take some lessons (she's nearly drowned three times), so I offered to go along for support and try and refine my 'technique'. The other people in the group were all terrified, but I'm the star pupil 'cos of my self-taught progress. So, gold stars to me!

The woman teaching the lessons is damn sexy too - especially in that wet t-shirt (she's in the pool with us). I shall most DEFINITELY be going again next week!

To anyone who is an adult and - for whatever reason - hasn't learnt to swim yet: try again - it's a great feeling when it starts to go right.
And it's better exercise than sweating it out in the gym.
