Superman flick, Brandon bloke in the costume pic.

For those who are interested.
Looks legit, being on the guy's own website and all.
http://www.brandonrouth.com/gallery/dis ... m=31&pos=0
Clicking on the pic gets a scarily large hi-res version.
There's a 'synopsis' (more of a blurb, really) of the film on the main page also, as well as a black-greyish/blue logo that might put the wind up some Supes fans, and a close-up of the bloke's mug as well.
Anyone that bothered about Superman Returns?

Hmmm... the Superman costume's never looked great in real life has it?They've not adapted it much have they?
Didn't Supes get a revamped costume in the comic mid 90s? I vaguely remember him losing the cloak for a start.
I'm looking forward to the film, but I can't say I'm that excited. More up for Spidey 3, X3.

Oz: Faulty metaphor. Kryptonite kills.Pissin' Poonani wrote:Maybe one of you Superman fans can answer a question for me-what types of Kryptonite are there, and what do they do?
Xander: You're assuming I meant the green kryptonite. I was referring,
of course, to the red kryptonite, which drains Superman of his powers.
Oz: Wrong. The gold kryptonite's the power-sucker. The red
kryptonite mutates Superman into some sort of weird...
Ahem. Somebody posted something a couple of months back... can't recall if it was here, at TFA or The Hub (searches bring up nowt)... it was basically a really good breakdown of exactly what type of Kryptonite does what to whom...
Will Google...
[EDIT] a-HA!
http://theages.superman.ws/Encyclopaedia/kryptonite.php
http://superman.ws/articles/space-colors/ for more detailsThere are five distinct varieties of kryptonite (green, red, gold, blue, and white), the first three of which are toxic to Superman.
Green kryptonite, the only variety potentially fatal to Superman, induces lassitude and inertia followed by death if not removed in time from Superman's presence.
Red kryptonite inflicts bizarre and unpredictable - albeit temporary and nonfatal - symptoms, as when it divides Superman into twins or transforms him into an infant or a giant ant.
Gold kryptonite would permanently rob Superman of his super-powers were he ever to be exposed to its radiations.
These three varieties of kryptonite are similarly hazardous to Supergirl, Krypto the Superdog, and all other surviving natives of Krypton.
Blue kryptonite is toxic only to Bizarro creatures. White kryptonite is harmful only to plant life.
Grrr. Argh.

They revamped his costume when they did all that Superman Blue malarkey and he became an energy being and his powers changed. (One upshot of which was that Kryptonite of any kind no longer had an effect on him - bet Batman wasn't too pleased.) No cape then.
There's been some speculation that there may be a reference to that and the 'Death of Superman' storyline in the movie, so things like seeing a silver-on-blue version of his logo are making some poor chaps freak out a little bit. I kinda doubt it personally, but then I don't really care either way, I'm finding it hard to care about anything Superman when there's still Hitchhiker's, Star Wars and Batman movies to worry about.
Still, interesting to see the actor fellow in the suit, tho.
They've made his logo a lot smaller and placed it a bit higher up, and he has a second symbol on his belt for some reason. And the red colouring has been toned right down. Heh, they did the same for Daredevil. Not a good portent...

Hmm, and as Clark Kent...

Definitely going for the traditional approach.
And looks a lot like Reeve there.

Not all that bothered by Superman, TBH...KingMob wrote:Anyone that bothered about Superman Returns?
He needs a chest. It's always going to be a problem with comic adaptations.
It would be fun if the publicity shots were a hoax and they were filming the Death of Superman series. That I'd pay money to see, being as it's the only time I've found the character particularly interesting.

In so-called "new version" of DC universe (post-Crisis on Infinite Earths) red kryptonite was created by Mr. Mxyzptlk and it could render Superman powerless.Red kryptonite inflicts bizarre and unpredictable - albeit temporary and nonfatal - symptoms, as when it divides Superman into twins or transforms him into an infant or a giant ant.
Gold kryptonite would permanently rob Superman of his super-powers were he ever to be exposed to its radiations.
The only other type of kryptonite I have seen in "new version" was green one.

I didn't know Krypto the dog was from Krypton. I though that dumb bloke (Bobo or whatever his name was) adopted him from a bag of drowned puppies in the 'Return of Superman' series. That said, I've only really ever read the 'Death of...' the 'Return of...' and that one where he got the blue and silver suit (as graphic novels), so I may have missed a huge Superman/Krypto family reunion somewhere.
Anyway, the new movie suit looks crap - it's got far too many empty blue areas. Not just because it's supposed to be Superman, but just looks rubbish in general - like some cheap homemade costume party thing.
Oh, and the actor guy has a smug/weird face that makes me want to dropkick him.

Krypto, the earth dog rescued by Bibbo - "new version".
From what I heard, at some point in "new version" Krypto gained super-powers, too.
Brandon Lee would've been an interesting choice, too.
Strange, tho, the Gold K looked very black. And they've recently announced that Black K will feature in Smallville sometime soon.
Well, there was the whole Superboy arc, where the Time Trapper made an alternate universe with just Kryptonians and Humans in, and towards its sad fate, ol' Supes used some Gold K to kill off that dimension's Zod & co.Ozz wrote:In so-called "new version" of DC universe (post-Crisis on Infinite Earths) red kryptonite was created by Mr. Mxyzptlk and it could render Superman powerless.Red kryptonite inflicts bizarre and unpredictable - albeit temporary and nonfatal - symptoms, as when it divides Superman into twins or transforms him into an infant or a giant ant.

Actually, in Mark Waid's first 'JLA' story (the much-discussed 'Tower of Babel') it was revealed that Batman had created his own synthetic version of Red K (I think it was red) that caused Superman's powers to go on overload, causing the blue doof extreme pain, but not fatal side-effects. Gotta love the Bat.Ozz wrote:In so-called "new version" of DC universe (post-Crisis on Infinite Earths) red kryptonite was created by Mr. Mxyzptlk and it could render Superman powerless.Red kryptonite inflicts bizarre and unpredictable - albeit temporary and nonfatal - symptoms, as when it divides Superman into twins or transforms him into an infant or a giant ant.

As for the movie.... I've never had much interest in Superman and Routh doesn't have the 'look' that Reeves had. Besides, as others have said, there's the new Batman movie, Spider-man 3 and others to be preoccupied with. Maybe if someone put 'Whatever happened to the Man of Tomorrow?" on film, I could somehow drum up some interest.
I don't get why everyone is so negative... This is why they try so hard to keep movies secret - one picture gets posted on the internet and everyone spreads horrible word-of-mouth. Everyone sounds like they're already against a movie that hasn't even been made yet. (Sounds like another movie we've all heard of...)
Anyway, I think that compared to George Reeves, Christopher Reeves, and Dean Cain, this Superman looks great. (And I really liked Dean Cain)
I'm not a big Superman fan, but I'm excited about this movie. Every time a new piece of news comes out, I get even more excited to see it.

Wear a red cape and fly around chasing super-cats flying around wearing red capes, while itself being chased by a flying super-horse with a red cape?Autobloke wrote:What the hell would a dog do with superpowers?Ozz wrote:From what I heard, at some point in "new version" Krypto gained super-powers, too.
There goes the Super-neighbourhood!
Bottled City, anyone?
I read a 'Batman' where Bats and Supes chase down Posion Ivy. Superman uses the dog to track her, and when Ivy opens a door Krypto is sitting there growling at her, but he's hovering in mid-air.
There was another recent 'Teen Titans' where Superman visits Superboy and brings Krypto. Supes says that Krypto lives on the farm in Kansas, because apparently the middle of nowhere is the only place a super-dog can run wild. He tries to teach Superboy some responsibility by making him train Krypto, but the dog kinda runs amok and trashes the place.
