Kill the ****.

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Kill the ****.

Post by Obfleur » Wed Apr 13, 2005 6:30 am

Okay, killing them might be to harsh.

But what the [composite word including 'f*ck'] is wrong with these so called 'football fans' ?
Has anyone seen the pictures from the game between AC Milan and Inter?
[composite word including 'f*ck']!

Image

This isnt 'rocket man' or something like that.

Image

Insane.

Dont they frisk people before games in Italy?

Here in Sweden they check every inch of your body - and if you have a purse they check every inch of that too.
Of course theres alot of **** going on despite that - but according to a swedish newspaper there was 300 flares (bengaler, in swedish) in the arena yesterday. [composite word including 'f*ck']

Any ideas on how to end the silly footy-violence?
Can't believe I'm still here.

Italian match security is a pile of dump as far as I've read.

Cant take **** like that into English stadia - if it had happened in England, we'd have the book thrown at us, so it will be interesting to see what happens in this instance.

There was a Man Utd fan chucked a flare onto the pitch at St Mary's in the FA Cup a month or so back.

In all the times I've been to SMS I've not been frisked once.
Grrr. Argh.

As for the Milan match last night, that was some of the worst crap ive seen in years, last time England behaved like that we got banned for european football.

Hmm, St mary's must be a bit pony in that case.

There are regular checks at Orient and Spurs, large steward presence as well - they are well uptight at Tottenham.

They showed flare hitting Dida about ten times on the telly today. They didn't show Schevchenko's goal, or the ones from Bayern - Chelsea, at all. Which I think is sad.

UEFA's got a strange sense of justice. Couple of years back, one of our teams played home with AC Parma, and Dino Baggio got hit with a knife. out team was banned for a year. This season a referee got hit at AS Roma - Dinamo Kiev match. Roma had to play three matches without audience.

What happened? I'm stuck in the US and don't get decent coverage of sports that are actually entertaining. Someone pitched a flair at a footballer?

Well, they actually bombarded the field with flairs (they said that about 300 flares had been smuggled in).
They also threw bottles and **** like that.
The game had to be.. uhm, shut down (?) because of the mess.
And one of the goalkeepers got hit with a flair (he's fine now though).

It was the fans of a team called Inter, that started throwing flares and ****.
It was there way of saying "We are dissapointed that you wont win the league/cup/whatever".
And it's said that the whole thing was planned way ahead.

And yesterday there was a new scandal.
The guys from england might have a bit more knowledge than me about this, but here it goes.
20 - 30 years the english team Liverpool and the italian team Juventus, played each other.
There was alot of chaos and about 25 Juventus-supporters died.
Now, 20 - 30 years later, they were playing each other again and there was alot of talk before the game about 'peace' and stuff like that.
But some of the italian fans were talking about revenge and silly stuff like that.
During the game the italian fans brought this up
Image

1989 Liverpool played another English team called Nottingham.
During that game 96 english people died.
Basically the italians were acting like assholes.

Even before the game started there was a small riot and the italian police had to fire teargas at the italien supporters.

Here's en example of how the english supporters responded.
This link contains a naughty word. Feel free to remove it, or ask me to remove it.
Here it is.

"I love football" yeah right you silly [composite word including 'f*ck'].

Of course not all of the fans acted like this :)

8 Juve fans were arrested for attacking Liverpool fans with baseball bats. Lovely stuff.

The major Italian and Spanish clubs get away with murder. Racist chants, ******* insane inner stadium fights...

How?

uefa are bent.

I think it was Juve V Roma a few years ago, a ******* motorbike was smuggled in and chucked at rival fans.

Lets not forget Barcelona VS Real Madrid.
A pig head was thrown at Raul (or was it Figo?).
How the [composite word including 'f*ck'] do you manage to get a pig head into a stadium?!

I feel sorry for the team (Inter) - but I hope they get banned from european competitions next year (or the next time they qualify for europan competition)
Can't believe I'm still here.

For those of you who don't subscribe... from yesterday's Fiver (The Guardian's daily football newsletter thing):
The Fiver isn't saying the Pope should die every week. But after the
abandonment of last night's Big Cup clash between Inter and AC Milan,
it feels compelled to note that virtually the only weekend in recent
years that hasn't seen violence in Italian stadiums was the one when
all matches were cancelled after the holy playmaker was subbed by the
great gaffer in the sky. What a relief then, to hear today that
Italy's biggest of cheeses, none other than Silvio Berlusconi
himself, will take serious steps to end the chaos.

Or was it just pious spin? Tell you what, you be the judge - here's
what Berlusconi's spokesman said after the Italian PM met his
interior minister (a meeting, incidentally, that was not hastily
convened after last night's donnybrook but after 85 coppers were
attacked at grounds around Italy last weekend): "There is a risk of
even more serious incidents in the future ... Premier Berlusconi
urged the interior minister to maintain the firm line that has been
taken for some time."

Is that, you may incredulously splutter, the firm line that enabled
brutal yahoos to smuggle dozens of banned flares into the San Siro
last night? Or that, three seasons ago, allowed them to smuggle in,
ignite and nearly throw a... scooter onto the pitch!? Possibly, but
The Man seems really keen to convince us he means business, with his
lackey adding: "The most drastic measures available should not be
ruled out". Yes, yes, but all a bit light on specifics, no?

In the meantime, it'll be interesting to see how Uefa decides to
handle last night's shambles, especially bearing in mind that they've
already administered the customary wrist-slap four years ago when
similar stuff-chucking by Inter fans caused the Euro Vase clash with
Alaves to be held up for six minutes. Uefa then hit the Italians with
a fine and ordered their next two matches to be played behind closed
doors. They meet on Friday - at lunch-time, naturally - to discuss
the case. Could a European ban be on the menu?
Grrr. Argh.

And... it's not.

Six matches without audience and a financial penalty. They really showed them.
