****, i'm telling you, who ever decides when/where roadworks are to be done is a total ****. the last couple of nights they've been resurfacing the high road here in leyton... RIGHT OUTSIDE MY ******* WINDOW.
seriously, the night before last, they didn't finish until 4.30am... last night was a bit better, but tonight i've just felt the steamroller(!) powering up again... *sobs*
I NEED SLEEP!!
I also need to stop having to put things back on shelves.
Oh, and tar stinks.

Complain to your local council- there are laws about noise pollution and causing disturbances at that time of night, road-working or not. If its a built up area the works should be carried out during the day to avoid disturbing residents at night (as I understand it, under EU law we all now have a human right to a suitable night's sleep).
End o' the financial year, innit?
They have to show the council that their inflated budgets are necessary by spending it all, otherwise they won't get as much next year.
What better way to spend it than to do roadworks at unearthly hours and pay their workers double- (or more) time?
I bet they weren't even doing any work on a section that was in desperate need of it either!
